Commercial Description:
A Winter's Ale is craft brewed in the tradition of a mild scotch ale. The rich flavor blends a pleasantly sweet caramel maltiness with mild hops. Refreshing yet warming, it is a perfect accompaniment to a brisk winter day. Available from November to February.

One of the best seasonals made as with most of this breweries beers. Hoppy, with a malt nose, quite distinct flavors.

Malty, clear caramel aroma with some spice in it. Overall, a very good seasonal ale. The beer never goes skunky if you live in Vermont.

Better than most specialty holiday brews.

Apparently I'm going to be a high rater on this one. Excellent winter ale. Starts off sweet with lots of caramel malts, bit like cola. As it sits in the mouth, the sweetness mellows as the brew picks up a smokier character. Definite scotch overtones, though I certainly wouldn't consider this to be a Scottish Ale. Bit of coffee in the finish when cold, as it warms, the finish takes on additional smokiness, with a final touch of smooth, milky chocolate. Would have liked a bit creamier texture to go with the flavors, but it wasn't unpleasantly thin or anything. Surprisingly good.

Probably my favorite Otter Creek brew. Not quite as malty as I’m used to with a scotch ale, but definitely a welcome change. The hops are clearly defined under the not-too-heavy maltiness. I’m not big on malty, roasty beers, so the hops added exactly what I was looking for. Subtle notes of spice and flowers. No one else seemed to like this, but I thought it was great.

Bottle. dark amber, positive memories of this brew. MAlty, caramel, with roasted hints. Definitely a good winter brew, very warming.

Chestnut colored. Decent soapy head and lace. Nose of peaty malt, caramel, light smoke and others. More light then medium in body, moderate carb bite. Deep, almost rich, sweet malt flavors, smoked caramel, slight hop bitterness. A pretty damn tasty scottish ale.

Dark amber color, almost no head. Average flavor, slightly bitter finish
