A catchall style that might be something good, might be something bland. This one pours amber enough, all right, with just a few clumps of bubbles. Sweet malty smell, fair enough. Taste is pretty straightforward. Decent caramel malts, a sharp, mostly European hop spiciness. Everything in a nice balance, although the balance is tenuous: a bit cloying here, a little to bitter there. Wheat does soften it up just a little it. Nothing off about it.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 18, 2007 12 oz bottle via Mystery Swap 2.0 (thanks Doclock!). This one pours a dark clear reddish brown with an average sized beige head. Nose is mostly vanilla, malty with some floral hops. Tastes like it smells with a bit of roasted grain flavor as well. This almost seems more like a hoppy brown porter. There is a mixed pine/grapefruit finish and a somewhat metallic aftertaste. Carbonation is medium and body is between thin and medium. Not bad...
