| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 25, 2008 Poured to a bright copper color with medium thick off-white head that lingered well and left okay lacing. Aroma was a sligthly muted, but pleasant blend of caramel malts and roasted nuts, and the flavor followed suit. Mouthfeel was sweet, with just a hint of bitter hops, and the finish was smooth and sligjhtly warming.
Not a bad beer. popephred (193), Plainfield, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pour produced a clear, amber body topped with a smallquickly diminshing white head. Caramel notes with some hops in the aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a nice amount of body. The initial flavor of this ale is moderately bitter with the aftertaste of hops on the sides of the tongue. Besides the hop character, this ale goes down fairly easily, which is due partly to the use of malts, which can’t be picked out on the palate. Certainly drinkable, though it wouldn’t earn a place in my regular drinking stock. Bungalo22 (326), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 20, 2008 Pours a light amber color from the bottle. Aroma was stronger then I expected and a mix carmel and heavy malts. A bitter beer going down and medium bodied. I have mixed feelings on this. It is much better than I expected in some ways but the bitterness is not my thing. I may come back to this one for a second review. Takes more like a red then an Altbier. pabstsfan777 (43), Unionville, Connecticut, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 20, 2008 On tap. Dark copper color, with large white head. Hop bitterness, with decent finish. Slight aftertaste. Decent Ale. EithCubes (2169), Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2008 Bottle. Caramel and extremely earthy, slightly gritty toffee, nuts, and hops. Balanced but really friggin funky! Clear but dark copper pour with a rocky, frothy off-white head. Body is medium-full and sticky, taste darkly malty, strongly nutty, lightly roasty. Crisp and tingly feel, and this sucker is dry and very, very bitter for an Altbier. I’m a little bit at a loss for why this isn’t rated much, much higher...was I the only with a fresh bottle, or has the recipe changed? This was impressive stuff! daknole (3027), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 16, 2008 I had this beer around 1999 and I remember it being just ok. I could drink it again, but I wouldnt go out of my way to find it again. A little sweet with a fair hop balance. Nice golden amber color. Overall a fair beer. alexsdad06 (1106), Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 14, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a copper color with a small off white head. The aroma is medium sweet malt with a touch of hops and light soap. The flavor is caramel malt, a hint of vanilla, some hops on the piney side, and a small burnt sensation. This was not a beer that had lots of flavor. Decently average.
