12 oz bottle. Light white head that quickly vanishes, and a deep amber color similar to Killians. In fact it’s Killians I would compare this to, as it does have a distinct flavor not found in most ambers Label says it has a recipe of several malts and hops, and it shows. Very nice beer.

Fantastic beer. When ever stuck in a bar without taps I head for the otter creek. For some reason we have it in quantity here. So I switch it up. Otter creek, Aviator red or Killians. Thats the best you can do unless you like yellow water. Coors, budlight and the rest. Had it in syracuse on tap and sort of fell in love for the first time.

I’ve never had a beer that had both a strong malt and hops taste. Its as if the taste of this beer came in two distinct waves. First, a maltly smoothness followed by a bite of hops. In the end, I guess I would classify this beer as well balanced and found it pleasurable.

Pours nice and has a very small head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is decent, mostly malty and I could definitely stand it without getting uncomfortable. For some reason the first sip had little taste, but subsequent sips held a nice flavor, not too strong with a not too bitter finish. All in all, I seemed to like this beer more than others seem to have.

Let’s see, my first Otter Creek brew. This is a 12 oz bottle that has one of those really cool labels on it. I find myself staring at the punctilio of the pastel for minutes on end. If for nothing else, the aesthetics of the label is worth the $2. You otter check it out if you see it in the store, the photo on this site does not do it justice. Pour this into the glass and you get a sweet, almost woody, medium high alky aroma, similar to many strong ales. For a head there is a ring of foam around the edge of the glass, nothing more. The initial flavor is interesting to say the least. Medium high alky content shows thru and is in your face. When you continue to drink, the operatics of the bitter maltyness are overdone; they take front center in the taste bud arena. Every taste continues to get more oppressive. This big beer flavor will probably make it well liked by raters of this website. This beer is on par with Mendicino Red Tail and Thrsty Dog Hoppus Maximus. It is undoubtedly reminiscent of that $2 malt liquor I bought down at Dave’s Town bar in Aliquippa, borderline ambivert alky flavors. Finish is difficult, high IBU that hangs on your uvula for minutes on end. Not even close to Great Divide Ridgeline Amber Ale (Arapahoe Amber) for enjoyablility. I hope Otter’s stovepipe porter is more likeable than this.
