This is one of the first beers I ever rated back when I started doing this in January of 1994, and I loved it. But with so little reference back then, who knows? Well, the beer smells bready, toasty and somewhat sweet. Similarly, the sweet breadiness and toasty malts takes center stage in the flavor, with a slight bitterness toward the finish for decent balance. Medium bodied with a soft textured mouthfeel and standard carbonation levels. Slightly hazy and amber in color. Off-white head swells to nearly an inch before settling to a broken film surrounded by a heavy, wide ring. Fancy, sponge-painted lace is left on the glass. So while I don’t like this beer as much as I did way back when, I still think it’s a tasty and enjoyable brew. Tmoney99 (4776), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 6, 2005 Bottle. Chewy malts, with a bit of tang, or zip if you will from the hops. It made me pucker a little, but in a good way. I think it would be well paired with bratwurst, but thats the case for most beer. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
