There is something about this beer that I just cannot place. My friend described it best when he likened it to a red wine, and when I thought about it, that was pretty accurate. It has the sweetness of a wine but also the bitter twinge of alcohol so it leaves you insecure.

Bottle. Malt and Carmel notes in the Aroma. Carbonated mellow brew with light chocolate notes. finish is bitter. I wonder if it might be a bad bottle because the beer has an odd flavor I can’t quite put my finger on. Possible re-rate.

Pours medium to light amber(copper) with a fizzy/frothy off white head. Aroma is a little nutty and malty. The flavors here are actual complex but nothing really sticks out of all the flavors. So the lack of depth is where the 6 came from. Starts out with a light nutty note then goes into a slight hoppy, spicy, and burnts notes. Slight bitter end. The palate is more on the heavier side here. A good beer to drink all night.

Style; glass: Alt Kolsch; tumbler 12 fl oz x 5.4% ABV = 64.8 / 60 = 1.08 beers * 150 C = 162 calories (est.) Purchased at: Canal’s Lawrenceville, NJ for $1.20 Aroma: Hay, corn, faint. Visuals: typical packaging, beautiful, bright copper body, brilliant, staying white head, sticky lace. Taste: Some depth, spicy, hoppy, malty. Caramel, roasted malts, some coffee. Tasty! Palate: start is spongey, middle is drying, and finish is acetic, bitter, and enjoyable. Overall: perhaps the best of the sampler. It was sold to me by the beer manager at Canal’s who suggested that this was their flagship. I think they should focus on this malty, slightly bitter, delicious session brew.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep clear copper with a small foamy head. Smell is earthy hoppiness with a slightly sweet maltiness hiding in the background. Taste is hoppiness balanced with a nutty toasted malt. Medium bodied and lightly carbonated.
