Commercial Description:
Cuckoo Bock, Otter Creek's seventh stop on the "OTTER CREEK WORLD TOUR" is inspired by the German Mai Bocks. This time the Otter is back in Germany, with a traditional German beer, Mai Bock. Brewmaster Steve Parkes procured Vienna malt, pilsener malt, two types of Munich malts, and hops and yeast all the way from Germany, in an effort to make this beer as authentic as possible. The Otter Creek version will be light and slightly sweet, with a fresh aroma. Don't let this fool you, however. Mai Bocks are strong beers and this one won't be any different. As it says on the label- "Now you can have your own German Mai Fest- prosit!"

Bottle 650 ml
Appearance: Slightly hazed amber bock with bright white , off-creamy head. 3+
Nose: Mineral hop feel with off fruity malts . Stylistically ok but felt a bit empty an generic.
Flavor/Palate : Medium light bodied. A bit shallow with its malt character. Slight bitter hop accents. Closer to Polish Mocne than to German bocks.

Bottle. Pours orange with an off white head. Sweet malt aroma with caramel and toast. Medium, smooth body. Flavor is a little dull, but sweet, with toasty and herbal notes. Not bad, very drinkable.

Hazy golden beer, with a slight copper tint - aroma of wildflowers steeped in honey, with a bit of spicy hops, and some noticeable diacytel, but it doesn’t detract too much from the enjoyment - the flavor has some honey character, but it is not nearly as sweet as the aroma suggests, and the diacytel is not present at all - on top of the mellow sweetness, some soft herbal, tea-like flavors, mildly spicy hops, some doughy character - notes of wildflowers linger, and the hops add a bite at the end - this is a damn fine maibock, and another surprise from Otter Creek.

May 2007 - Thanks to eaglefan538 for this one. One of the best OC beers. Reddish brown pour with a little head. Light and refreshingly sweet but with a nice hoppy kick. Good one.

Pours out a clear golden colour with a 2-finger head that fades quickly and leaves spotty lacing. The aroma is of toasted, bready, typically Munich malts with some caramel, nuts and earthy hops. There is a bit of acidity too in the form of some sour funk in the initial whiff. The flavour is toasted and doughy malts with light hints of chocolate, mildly bitter hops in the finish that are still kind of earthy, and some vegetable notes in the finish. There is a caramel malt backbone too. Thin-medium bodied with a bittersweet, not-so-dry finish that has a great palate duration.

The appearance to this beer is very clear and opaque. It has a mild thin head with a nice orange amber color to it. There is a very strong aroma of nuts and some hints of salt with mild hops. As you drink it there is an initial funk in the taste which is very strong and mildly hoppy. the palate is very sutle which contains earth tones and some hints of malt.
