Raisin, deep maltiness, like a doppelbock. Perhaps decoction mash? Sweet caramel and biscuit with grain. Light hoppiness, fruity, with a bit of snap. Light golden amber clear with white foamy lacing head that lasts. Medium watery body with medium carbonation. Smooth to start, with good dry roasted malt character with biscuit, caramel, and some raw grain. Not overly sweet with neutral fruits. Nice authentic flavor. Bit of alcohol. Light bitter kick at the end, but not bitter. Takes me back to a lot of the bockbier I drank in Germany. Mild grainy finish with dry nutty sweet after, just a bit watery overall. Nice example. emerica56 (583), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 8, 2007 The appearance to this beer is very clear and opaque. It has a mild thin head with a nice orange amber color to it. There is a very strong aroma of nuts and some hints of salt with mild hops. As you drink it there is an initial funk in the taste which is very strong and mildly hoppy. the palate is very sutle which contains earth tones and some hints of malt. All they are missing is the busty beer maid. I heard they can only live in kegs for a few short minutes without suffocating to death.
A strong beer. I overfilled my mug with a anxious and impatient pour. In order to stop myself from messing up my fiancee’s counter I started sipping away. A few sips and I was wasted. Started singing, telling my best friend I loved him and then went into a deep depression. actually thats a lie. But it was a great beer. perfect for summer. And then when the growler is empty the beer says in a strong austrian voice: "I’ll be bock."

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 20, 2007 Perhaps one of the best Otter Creek beers I’ve had to-date, poured a golden color, nice generous straw colored head, decent lacing. The aroma was godlen honey, light grass. The flavor was honey, light grass, some spicey hops, all pretty nicely balanced, not a case of the hops taking over the maltiness. Bready and dough aspects also came to play with higher temperatures, a pretty enjoyable beer, well carbonated, slightly zingy in the finish, good stuff. Rich sweet pale malt that is lightly cerealish but also nicely clean. A bit of earthy/noble hop aroma but mostly keeping itself in the back. Chewy yeasty/bready malt character. I really enjoy the malts in this brew. Flavour shows fresh bready yeasty character and soft doughy malts. Just enough hoppiness to keep the sweetness in check. A touch of floral hop flavour. Lingering yeastiness. An excellent interpretation of this style. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

Aroma was sweet and grassy. Flavor was very nicely done, balance of sweetness and hops and grass. Solid beer for sure. Goodgrief (1153), Middletown, Delaware, USA

Reddish brown pour with a little head. Light and refreshingly sweet but with a nice hoppy kick. Good one. notalush (2675), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 22, 2008 Hazy golden beer, with a slight copper tint - aroma of wildflowers steeped in honey, with a bit of spicy hops, and some noticeable diacytel, but it doesn’t detract too much from the enjoyment - the flavor has some honey character, but it is not nearly as sweet as the aroma suggests, and the diacytel is not present at all - on top of the mellow sweetness, some soft herbal, tea-like flavors, mildly spicy hops, some doughy character - notes of wildflowers linger, and the hops add a bite at the end - this is a damn fine maibock, and another surprise from Otter Creek.
