Not happy with this bottle. All antiseptic and metallic. Something must be wrong with this bottle. I’ll try it again next year. yuch!

Chestnut body with a nice head. Aroma is English fun stuff with some caramel. Flavor is the same. Some hints of chocolate. I should note that it has the Otter Creek ’taste’ as well as an English feeling one. That and not being able to detect the alcohol (bottle says 7.5) gives 4/5 palate. Otherwise it’s a pretty boring beer. Possibly the cheapest bomber purchased at like $3. Ok I guess, but really lacks complexity to keep me coming back.

22 oz bottle: Pours a ruby brown hue. Beige-ish head, mostly lasting, slight lace. Sweet, toffee, caramel nose, dark fruit, brown sugar. Sweet chewy malts, caramel, cocoa, butterscotch, toffee, praline, nutty, toasted grain. Medium bodied texture, steady carbonation. Hops poke through, resinous and grapefruity, nice dirty earthen hop finish. I must say that I am impressed. This is better than almost anything else from these folks, and its quite drinkable.

Orange/red color with a thick white head. Caramel, dark fruits and some coffee-like bitterness in the aroma. Big malty beginning with some apple and a bitter finish. Some alcohol flavor lingers. Decent offering.

22 oz bottle at Bourbon (Wash., DC). Excellent English-style holiday ale, with a complex malty aroma and flavor and especially smooth palate. Very nicely balanced -- not overdone on the spice or sweetness. Rare, but I highly recommend it if you can get it.

Very good, if you like an exceptionally smooth taste; yet, all the flavor is there, not lacking; not overly spiced, like some "holiday" beers; Hard to discern the 7.5 alcohol as stated on the 22oz bottle. Very different offering from this brewery-will look for more...

Draft at RFD on 12-3-05. Copper colored with a small tan head. Nose is light toffee, sweet amlts, light caramel, and a bit of spice. Taste is spicy with light bitterness. Some chocolate notes, light caramel, toffee, spices(cinnamon, clove, and brown sugar), dried fruits and a bit of nuttiness. Body is medium but smooth with a moderate carbonation feel. Finishes with more spiciness and light bitterness. Some toffee, choco-notes, hops and light spices. Maybe a bit of pecan pie as well.
