Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a thinl white head that disappeared after a few sips. Pleasnt aroma with hints of banana and apricots. I also got bananas and apricots in the flavor. Mouthfeel was a bit thick, which I rather liked in this beer. I am not so sure this beer is true to its style as a Belgian Tripel Ale, but I enjoyed it for what it was and would gladly have another! | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 6, 2006 Bomber - Pours a golden yellow in color with a small white head. Aroma is fruity and with some malt. Flavor is of Belgian yeast... malty with a spicy element to it. Some citrus at the end. OK, but not great... hophead75 (1959), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 25, 2006 bottle. Pours a rather clear golden. Aroma is earthy, herbal, and tangy citrus. Taste is light on the palate, with some tangy citrus, earthy spicy flavors, but with some medicinal and light metallic flavors. Drinkable tripel but not something i would buy again..unfortunately... Color was yellow amberish with some hazy. Taste was lots of carbination some malts. Not anything special here, but I appreciate the effort. GonZoBeeR (2161), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada

So slightly hazed this light honey colored brew, and the head is all but nil though leaving a thin white ring and some clingy lace that belies the sugary mess which is to follow. Aroma is fair enough with touches of fruity yeastiness and maybe a tad bit of buiscuit but with a pervasive dose of alcohol (isopropylish) that persists. Flavor is at first overwhelmed by brash carbonation but settles in to a smooth mess of sweet honey, cream-of-wheat maltiness, and definite cardboard/cork flavors that, in a sense, remind me of an old and somewhat oxidized pale Belgian ale, but this beer is neither old nor Belgian and I dare say not even remotely reminding me of any tripels I’ve ever sampled, or, at least, none that I’d ever sample more than once. Alright Otter Creek, you tricked me with your label and the promise of a special one-off treat. And now I stare down the maw of your other monster, the special edition weizenbock, and I can only pray it far excedes this beast.
The finish is wet, sweet, cidery, and mostly bland. Lingering notes of bad sherry. Bummer. beastiefan2k (1603), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 1/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 14, 2006 I like what Otter Creek has done with these special releases, up to this point. This beer is a complete miss, I even thought to give it some time and have had it cellaring it for a month since i bought it. Well, its still came out as a crappy Tripel. First its the clearest yellow tripel I have ever seen, clear body and can see everything from one side to the other. The aroma is at least recognizable as a tripel with that earthy belgian candi aroma. But its rather weak and has nothing past that. Taste is complete empty, absolutely nothing to show for itself. Boo this beer, boooooo. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 10, 2006 Draft at the Durham World Beer Festival. Clear gold, small white head. Spicy aromas, lemony citrus. This was more like a wit than a tripel. Watery body. Meh.
