Fruity hops aroma with some caramel malts, light peach and some pine. Aroma is a bit weaker than expected for a IIPA. Color is a slightly hazy dark copper. Very bitter flavor with lots of grapefruit pith, dry roasted peanut skins, a touch of caramel for sweetness. Not much sweetness though. Pretty dry and puckering bitterness. Strong grainy and roasty notes late swallow. Strong alcohol presence that warms the stomach. Finishes oily and bitter. A very strong and bitter IPA shawnm213 (998), South Bend, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 19, 2009 Pours a hazy golden with a big white head. some lace. aroma of caramel, booze, and pine and citrusy hops. A little too syrupy sweet. Didn’t realize at the time that this was a 11% abv. That could explain all of the curse words in my notes for this beer that I won’t repeat not that I’m sober.
