The aroma is tangerine, pineapple, mango, and crackers. The flavor is grapefruit, lemon, tangerine, very piney bitterness, and a nice bitter lemony finish. Pretty tasty beer. shawn14505 (35), Rochester, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 7, 2009 This is a very deep, complex and impressive East Coast IPA. Seems to be very heavy on the Simcoe hops. When poured in a glass looks similar to DFH 120. Cloudy. There is a lot going on in this beer. Alcohol is well hidden. People have written that there is a huge malt backbone, but I myself found only a medium amount of malts while being balanced slightly to the hoppy side. Tastes similar to Stone Ruination, but heavier on the alcohol. Overall, this is an excellent DIPA and worth seeking out. Suttree (2732), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 6, 2009 I enjoyed this one - Not over the top, and it lets the hop really take center stage, which I like. Woodsy, cedery aroma, plus pine and resin, as well. Woodsy hops throughout, Some malty, sweet notes emerge as it warms. Sampled at lithy’s Septemberfest. ScottyP (314), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 5, 2009 Pours a clear light amber with cream head. Aroma of resiny pine hops, fruit and booze. Similar taste. Hop finish sticks with you. Butters (1652), Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 5, 2009 Sampled at Lithy’s Septemberfest Tasting. Clear golden amber with nice tan head and sticky lacing. Nose is a syrupy piney but faded. Flavor is resiny, with large amount of malt backbone. Good lingering bitter finish. Solid DIPA. But not over the top. mesperon (139), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 4, 2009 Slightly hazy amber, fluffy white head, lots of sticky lace. Very grassy herby, slightly spicy hope aroma, grapefruit, trace of sweet breadiness. Somewhat fluffy palate with medium carbonation.
Tastes like candy and bitter grapefruit to start, grassy on the tip of the tongue, progresses into woods pine hop flavor with a little bit of soapiness and musk, caramel to balance. The finish really takes a full count of 3 until is slowly comes on to a very piney and grassy hop bitterness that slowly creeps from the back to the front of the tongue, and adds a spicy note.
Although I wouldn’t call this my favorite IPA, it is very good, and the flavor is really dynamic and has a lot of different aspects that specifically hit different parts of the palate. Very interesting. mkade8883 (52), Goleta, California, USA
