Commercial Description:
The Otter Creek flows through our hometown of Middlebury. Elderberries grow wild on its banks, providing the inspiration to flavor this refreshing Summer ale with hints of elderberries and blueberries. Enjoy!

Draught. Light golden, semi-hazy, white head with good retention. Strong blueberry aroma. Flavor is blueberry, with a very immediate turn to tart and bitter. The quick turn is unpleasant. I would like a lingering fruit taste before the onslaught of (non hop) bitterness. Afterburn is slightly sour.

frothy head sets atop a light to medium golden beer. mostly clear. aroma has blueberries, but there is a spiciness/bubblegummy quality that is stronger, with yeasty qualities. flavor is raspberries, slightly detect some dryness...maybe earthy hops.

Pours with a white, pillowy, two-finger head, fades quickly and leaves a good lace. Medium carbonation and light bodied. Light amber clear color. Nose is very fruity. Starts on the sweet side with blueberry flavor and finishes with a prickly tartness. Good summer ale. $1.55 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits, Acton, MA

Sampled at Empire Brewfest. Lots of blueberry in the nose. Like a grape soda. I guess there are supposedly elderberries as well, but I dont know what the fuck those are. Pale piss yellow color. Gumballs to start, lots of blueberry, but not totally overbearing. Some malts in the finish. Surprisingly decent and not overly cloying.

Just plain bad. I can’t frickin’ believe they recommend serving this swill in a flute. As if it resembled in any way a true lambic beer.... Even without the elder/blueberry flavoring it would be a bad beer, yellow, watery and flavorless. The fruit is just artificial and stale tasting and lingers on the palate much longer than I care to have it there.

Clear light yellow body. Egads! What a horror. The aroma is horrific unless you are a conisseur of children’s breakfast ceral. It smells exactly like Booberry. The flavor is much the same. This beer is quite simply a travesty. Next time use real berries rather than some artifical flavoring that was born somewhere right off of the NJ Turnpike.

This was . . . unfortunate. Upon opening the bottle, a ludicrously strong scent of berry fills the room. Nothing on the planet stinks of berry like this including, oddly enough, berries. Is strangely generically clear gold, one would think if this was actually brewed with berries it would be a bit less yellow. Then again, the commercial description says that the berries are an "inspiration", not an "ingredient". There would seem to be a substansive difference here. Flavor is not of real berry, quite fake and artificial. Jeffc666 tasted this as well, and he made it absolutely clear that I was not to steal his description of this tasting exactly like BooBerry cereal. So it doesn’t taste EXACTLY like it was brewed with BooBerry. Again, to make it perfectly clear, it does NOT taste EXACTLY like BooBerry cereal with loads of fake, sugary berry. It got worse the longer I drank it, but it never stopped clearly tasting like not BooBerry. Really. Jeff said so.

A spare quickly diminishing head tops this deep yellow brew. A strong waft of blackberry/blueberry fills the nostrils. Thin bodied, but very quenching. Initial impression is full on fruit sweetness. Bitterness rises later tempering the sweetness. Finishes crisply with a lingering blueberry aftertaste.
