Commercial Description:
The Otter Creek flows through our hometown of Middlebury. Elderberries grow wild on its banks, providing the inspiration to flavor this refreshing Summer ale with hints of elderberries and blueberries. Enjoy!

First whif straight from the bottle is Blueberry pie, fantastic.Nice golden color with a small white head that faded fast. The aroma was light malt and blueberry with maybe some spice but that might just be the wassail i just had. To bad the flavor wasn’t nearly as good as the aroma.Light malt with a some what sourish berry presence, with a slightly bitter finish. The after taste was a faint blueberry.Nothing special here,i was definately looking for a stronger berry presence and the malt is just way off.Just unbalanced and short on to many things to list. It’s worth a try but beyond that is strictly a matter of taste. Thanks to Jpdipso for sending this brew my way.

Not overly fruity, but lacks just about everything else too. If you want something very light and refreashing in lue of flavored water to pound, it’s not bad.

(bottled 4/13/04) Clear golden body with bubbles rising ala champagne, with medium white head. Aroma is sweet blueberry and what I presume is elderberry. Taste is moderately sweet, again what I presume is elderberry, some blueberry, with a lingering dry/astringent fruitiness. Light, watery body. Ok for what it is.

Bottle: Poured with a tiny, fizzy white head that dissipated almost immediately. It’s surprising how light and clear this beer is - typically the other blueberry beers I’ve tried have either imparted some of the color from the berries or have been hazy. This beer is a very clear and definitely filtered light yellow. Looks like a cheap american light, but thankfully does not taste like one. The aroma is filled with blueberries, though not as much as say the Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale. Tastes like blueberries with a hint of the elderberries giving it the slight tartness towards the middle. Finishes dry with a lingering blueberry aftertaste. Very light body, watery, slightly too much carbonation. Very much a one diminsional beer focused on the berries - add some complexity to it and I’d rate higher.

Beer poured with a small diminishing fizzy head. Light honey color with fruit perfume aromas, specifically blueberry. Hints of malt aromas almost gave me a smell of cold blueberry pie but the perfume aromas almost made the beer nauseating. The body was very light with of course, fruit berry flavors. There was a minor hop finish but it was lost with the heavy sweetness. Somewhat refreshing at first, but one dimensional and I could barely finish it. On a hot summer day, do not try this beer.

Bottled on 4/13/04 Batch #1520 drank on 6/3/04. Deep yellow with a thin white head. Deep sweet berry aroma, very watery aroma, ends dry and not very sweet, almost astringent.
