Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 17, 2009 Bottle. Pours brown with a small light tan head. Aroma was malty and fruity with light caramel, roast and subtle chocolate. Malty sweet flavor with caramel, chocolate and some nuttiness. Moggman (187), Columbus, Ohio, USA Sep 15, 2009 Bottle. Pours brown with light brown head. Aroma is dark fruits with nutty notes. Flavor is roasted malts, mildly nutty, sweet with a bitter twinge in the finish. 502Flavors (617), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Sep 11, 2009 $5 bomber into pint glass. Nice nut brown, almost amberish body. Creamy off-white head that fades to a thin layer and leaves some lace. Aroma is nutty, woods, some chocolate, some dark fruits like raisins and dates, a bit of vanilla. Flavor is a bit strange. Almost chalky, maybe even a bit oxidized (this is a spring release being consumed in the fall... thats not enough time to oxidize is it?). A bit of chocolate and nuttyness, but the astringency seems to override most of the beers "character". Meidum body with medium carbonation. Overall: not horrible, but the aroma set a standard that the flavor simply didn’t follow through on. kkearn (994), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 8, 2009 22oz bottle, from the "World Tour" series. Pours dark brown with a ruby hue, capped with a medium sized tan head. Aroma is quite sweet, with notes of cereal grain, caramel, cocoa, and lucky charms marshmallows. Flavor is sweet as well, with chocolate, caramel, tea, and some roasted malt. Body is a bit thin. I first had this a while ago I believe) and I remember it being a lot more impressive. 12oz bottle from Hannaford. Pours a dark brown body with ruby-red highlights and about an inch of short-lived light tan head. Caramel, chocolate and a bit of nut characterize the aroma. Chocolate and coffee dominate the flavor, with a fair bit of caramel to support. Medium in body with moderate carbonation. A decent American brown, nothing to write home about, but pretty good. VTHopHead (895), Barre, Vermont, USA Jul 11, 2009 Bomber - Pours a dark copper brown in color with a medium light tan head that settles to a thick coat over the beer and produces some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is slightly sour and fruity with plenty of roasted malts and a few hops. Flavor is much more sour than I would have expected. Little of the other flavors transcend the sourness. Quite disappointing... alexsdad06 (1056), Ohio, USA Jul 4, 2009 22 oz. bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a deep caramel copper color with a small off white head. The aroma was semi sweet with fruit, some roast, caramel malt, and floral notes. The flavor opened with a sourness that was quite unexpected. Nothing from the nose really made it to the taste. It was thin and not something I would care to revisit. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Apr 26, 2009 3/18/2009: Otter Creek Mud Bock has a roasted, coffee-ish aroma and a really weak, barely roasted flavor. It seems slightly sour, possibly burnt. This beer feels watery and the palate as it is definitely lacking body. The aroma isn’t bad, but the beer is barely tolerable overall.
1 pint 6 fl. oz. bottle shared by Tmoney99. Thanks! Rating #84 for this beer.
