Commercial Description:
Mud Bock Spring Ale makes its appearance with the spring thaw. The main feature of this full bodied beer is a broad and deep malt flavor. While sweeter than our other beers, a wine-like character provides balance in the flavor profile. Has fruity, herbal and floral notes in the aroma. Available February to May

Not too much in the way of aroma. Definite sourness in the body. ALmost a thinned out red.

Okay, I love stouts and porters. So bars, stores, etc are always recommending things. While I love their advice, I believe they remiss on this one, but it might have been due to limited selection. The color looked good, if a bit lighter for a bock. The taste had a chocolate/sweet taste to it. But the overall body and mouthfeel(too tangy?), just hurt my enjoyment of it.

This is the best beer by far from this brewer. I had the winters Ale not to long ago and it was, so bitter that I thought the beer had spoiled.

The beer looked and tasted a flat. The nose had some definite maltiness and a strong hoppiness to it. It surprised me then, when I took a big sip and was hit by this huge malty, roast, chocalately, toffee burst of flavor. It’s followed up by a bit of citrusy hops, but not as much as you would expect from the smell. I would have guess that this was a porter if it had not been for the name and the fact that it did taste a little cleaner than an ale. The weird thing is that you lose a lot of the roasty chocolatey flavors as it warms up. That’s unusual since it usually brings flavors out.

thinly effervesent pricklyness, followed by medium thick, sweet malts, reminded me of coffee with cream. ended with a lightly bittered sweetness. A-OK!

Very enjoyable. Slight sourness but with really nice malt balance and just a hint of smoke. This was an excellent brew.

About equal parts sour, cidery notes and richer nutty tones. Neither taste is unpleasant, but both are smaller than I’d like. The best thing about this beer is its label, which features one of my favorite scenes - a smoking sugarshack and pails on the maples.
