Commercial Description:
Mud Bock Spring Ale makes its appearance with the spring thaw. The main feature of this full bodied beer is a broad and deep malt flavor. While sweeter than our other beers, a wine-like character provides balance in the flavor profile. Has fruity, herbal and floral notes in the aroma. Available February to May

this was more of a coffee/chocolate mixture than just straight up coffee...really reminded me of a friggin' tootsie roll, although the finish is more coffee-like...loads of maltiness and a big roastiness too. dark, absolutely zero head.

A nice dark burgundy color and a nose that features a nice balance of hops and spice starts off this brew. Flavor is nice as well, but doesn't quite live up to the nose. A good effort, overall.

I don't like coffee and this tasted like coffee. Did I tell you that it tasted like coffee. I think one more time should do it....it tasted like coffee!

A slightly smokey mild malt body, with medium hop bitterness and a very lager like finish. Definately a mild bock when compared to some of the other bock beers (Salvator, Celebrator etc). Enjoyable, but a bit too much lager yeast flavor for my personal tastes.

A very good dark beer. Sweet, but never too sweet, or cloying. A hint of maple, or maybe it's merely suggested coming from Vermont. Well balanced. Tastes similar to other hearty Vt brwon ales such as Rock Art Ridge Runner and Shed Mountain Ale.

Batch #1299. Pours a dark ruby red/orange with very little head. Roasted malt and black coffee aroma, much more robust than the appearance would make you think. Flavor is of light roasted coffee (not black coffee like that found in the aroma, but more of a cafe latte) and a smooth malt. Finish is extremely lightly bitter. Good balance throughout.

Small head disappeared quickly. Nice aroma of roasted malts, with a hint of caramel. Mahogany appearance. Medium bodied, with a small bit of hops in the finish. Good flavor, although a little on the sweet side.

2003 bottle. Burnt roasty aroma, smokey. Not sweet, some chocolate and caramel flavors. Earthy, nutty.
