Commercial Description:
Mud Bock Spring Ale makes its appearance with the spring thaw. The main feature of this full bodied beer is a broad and deep malt flavor. While sweeter than our other beers, a wine-like character provides balance in the flavor profile. Has fruity, herbal and floral notes in the aroma. Available February to May

Bottle dated 1-31-03 Batch 12 This beer poured a nice dark brown color with a small white head. The taste was very malty, but not quite as clean as a lager, as it is an ale. A nice top fermenting version of a German classic style.

Bottle was dated 02/14/2002, batch 1119, so it's a bit old. Pours a clear dark brown, with a quickly diminishing light tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, caramel, light dough and chocolate. Flavor follows the aroma, with sweet and roasty flavors dancing on the tongue. Medium body, light carbonation.

Poured a dark brown color with light-brown head. Little lacing.
Smokey and malty aromas. Some sweetness in the aroma too.
Smokey, roastiness comes through with a sweet hop bite. Sweetness lingers. Not really balanced.
Smooth and somewhat refreshing but could be smoother...

Deep copper red. Thin off white head and little lacing. Pleasant malty aroma with a slight burnt caramel edge with hints of coffee and asparagus. Medium bodied, smooth, easy drinking with flavors of chocolate and dark bready malt, late coffee bitterness and a healthy dose of yeast. Balanced and tasty.

Dark brown...almost black in colour. No detectable aroma....but somewhat grapey. Definate sourness with a grape overload taste. A good spring beer with a nice fresh taste.

One of my first bock beers. Very rich, roasted, full bodied, and malty. I enjoyed it for sure.

The beer has a great color, but poured a bit flat. Taste had a sour-ness to it. Not a ’true’ bock, reminded me of a Shiner Bock style beer.
