Certainly would like to know the alcohol content on this one, as it would affect my rating considerably. This is a big roasty stout, with some nice chocolate and sugary tastes going on. Better balanced and higher quality than most Caribbean stouts, no complaints here. Very well done, with the subtle pungent flavors they were looking for coming through in a classy way. Recommended. Smell: Dark malts with a touch of roast. Lightly fruity. Notes of dark chocolate, caramel, and toasted sugar.
Taste: Dark roasted maltiness with flavors of dark chocolate, molasses, and a swig of sweetened black coffee. Mild fruitiness. Roasty, earthy bitterness. Slight hints of rum on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Good! That’s what it is - good. matta (1139), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2007 Straight out of the refrigerator, glacial and cold… this beer does nothing for me.
It truly took a good 30min of warming ever closer to room temperature for the This Jamaican inspired Stout to show its Rasta roots.
Pours a dark brown body, with edges of amber and a stout (pun intended) cap of khaki head. The aroma invokes thought of cold coffee, baker’s chocolate, organic oats, charred oak and molasses. The flavor begins very dry and mildly bitter, yet ends with a kiss of sweetness. A very drinkable Dry Stout / Sweet Stout or is it a Foreign stout? … Nevertheless, an unexpected treat!

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 28, 2007 Pretty thick tan head and a black uncarbonated body. Alcohol and sugarcane smell. Sweet and roasted malt taste. Coffee flavors are there too. Hops present there as well. Well, there is definite complexity and only good things in this beer. I wish I had more than a bomber (that I have to share... stupid family). rocbyter (921), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 22, 2007 Moderate bitter malty aroma. Very dark amber color with a small brown head. Strong malt beginning. Finishes with a fresh hoppy finish. One of the best combinations of dark malts and hops in a beer. iowaherkeye (1860), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 18, 2007 12/11/07, 22oz bottle, no date from Colin--thanks General_Gao. Clear deep mahogany with a small beige head, fading to a ring before long. Aroma of roasted malts, brown sugar, vanilla, and a bit more herbal and piny hops than I would’ve thought. Overall pretty sweet smelling. Flavor continues the sweetness, though not quite as much as the aroma (surprising since most sweet smelling stouts tend not to be sweet at all for whatever reason {most of the time}). there is also some sweet pine, roasted malts, and brown sugar. Bitterness ends up around a 2-3 in the semidry ashy finish. Body is a bit thin with light carbonation. Pretty good beer. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

Opaque black with a small, creamy and persistent head that leaves some nice frosting. Sweet, smoky mesquite and honey barbecue aroma is nice. Flavor is sweet and prickly: hickory smoked meat with black strap molasses, thyme, allspice, and a dab of coffee with brown sugar. Finish is dry and smoky coffee; makes you want some more. Smooth palate is medium bodied, but tingly with some spiciness. Unique and interesting brew.
