Nice roast aroma, with a touch of coffee/chocolate in it. Pours pitch black, with a small tan head that clings to the sides of the glass as it fades. Strong roast flavor, with a hint of spice in it... almost peppery. Moderate mouthfeel, fairly short finish. For the price, not a bad stout.

1/18/08: Bottle.
Rich coffee brown body with a creamy caramel brown head. Potent aroma of strong malts with tones of coffee. Roasted malt and coffee flavor with some bitterness. Thick and oil- like. Slight tin aftertaste which was unpleasant.

Bottle: Pours a dark brown to black with a big tan head. Aroma, roaasted notes, herbal hops, earthy notes as well, and some fruits. Flavor, fruits, coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, yeast and bready notes, with an earthy bitterness on the finish. Medium body with a medium carbonation, really nice. I need to drink more foreign stouts, I usually enjoy them.

Deep brown coloured body with a thinnish off-white head. Aroma of nice roasted malt, some light coffee and chocolate scents come out as well. Medium-bodied; Strong malty flavour with some nuts, coffee and chicory noticeable too. Afteraste shows some caramel, toffee and pit fruits in addition to the roasted malt. Overall, a nice offering and a good one in the series. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Clarendon (Arlington), Virginia on 25-December-2007.
