Commercial Description:
Summer Wheat Ale is a highly drinkable, light bodied ale. The use of wheat and careful hopping produce a beer with a flavor that is slightly tart, with a citrus-like finish. Available May to September

A nice summer ale, almost dry feel to it. Aroma of wheat, good flavor, interesting aftertaste. Gotta get back to the party.

For its intended purposes, coling off in the heat of summer, this beer rocks. I think some posters misinterpreted the style. This is a summer wheat beer, not specifically wheat beer. I have tried many others, ranging from Pete’s to Harpoon. Otter Creek has so much more wheat flavor and body, yet remains thirst quenching, than the others. Drink with a slice of lemon. You want a cold one after mowing the lawn on a scorching Sun afternoon? This is it.

This is a very middle of the road American wheat. It doesn’t have the spiciness or complexity of other wheats. Instead, it has a moderate wheat flavor and a fairly strong hop presence. Drinkable and quenching, but lacking.

Bottle: Poured a light orangey color ale with a light foamy head with light retention and some minimal lacing. Aroma of sweet wheat malt with more character then I would expect. Taste is a nice mix between some sweet malt but also the refreshing taste of wheat. I don’t know if the aging on this one has done something to the beer that other would have noticed but I thought this had a lot more character and complexity then I would have expected from a summer wheat ale.

July 2006 - This beer really hit the spot for my grilling experience. Pour was really brilliant yellow, minimal head, lacing. Crisp refreshing wheat taste with citric tart and a bit of sweetness. Great for a hot summer day.

just a little bit confused, these guys make really good beers, i don’t see what the difference is here! the beer is just light enough. it has a good malt backing and a nice hop finish. the beer tastes a little like lemon peel. and finishes a bit long. the hop profile is laid back, it is quality and it lasts. this is eve n a better summer beer than this rating. it is really refreshing. it has a nice summery aroma of citrus (to lemon) and hops.

Found one in the fridge left over from late summer. A nice citrusy beer that quenches the thirst in July, though not now.
