The aroma picked up darker chocolate with bunches of toasty banana and darker spices.. caramel and molasses provide more dark maltage.. leaves kind of a rye whiskey-laced caramel and chocolate impression with warmth. The flavor had toasted caramel, chocolate, and molasses at its core, surrounded by spicy pepper, rye, and banana yeasy esters.. the tacky back-end carried through a lot of spicage.. decently-blended and warm.. but not great. Syrupy, warm foray onto the palate with low carbonation throughout.. tacky on the back-end with some overt alcohol notes.. OK feel overall, and a decent brew. BREWMUSKCLES (1086), New Jersey, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 2, 2008 There should be a warning on the label. Huge malty goodness within. Beware of addiction. Pouring a dark cloudy brown with a small tan head, Otterbahn cobines the heavy malt character of a bock with the tartness of a hefe to great effect. The finish is sweet and long with a nice tartness around the sides of the tongue. A lingering peaty character, not unlike a scotch ale plays a heavy role in the aftertaste. Hops are virtually nonexistent, and the yeast lends fruity aroma. Well crafted and definitely not run of the mill. Funknmilla (603), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 25, 2007 22 oz bottle-pours a rich dissipating tan head and dark mahogany color. Aroma is dark malt-cocoa powder, dark fruit, some sharpness. Taste is sweet dark malt-some sharpness-cocoa powder/licorice, oak barrel-whisky like, dark fruit, musty, roasty, secondary/faint hops bite, some alcohol. OK carbonation. First half pint a bit rough to my taste, then mellowed and became more enjoyable. beerbill (1973), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 21, 2007 22 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown with a moderate off-white head that faded to a thin film after a few sips. Very pleasant aroma of caramel, brown sugar and dates. Unfortunately, I really wasn’t crazy about the flavor. Some brown sugar, malt, bananas, wet cardboard and wheat were all noted. Light to medium mouthfeel. I like wheat beers, and I enjoy rich malty beers as well. I guess I just didn’t care for the way they came together in this beer. beerbomb (172), New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 25, 2007 Pours dark ruby-brown with a small creamy head. Aroma is of brown sugar, raisins, toasted malts and caramel-not getting much wheat esters. Flavor is about the same with heavy brown sugar and light chocolate. Decent for the style.
