Commercial Description:
This time the Otter is going to Germany, with "Otterbahn," a weizenbock, set for May release. "Otterbahn" is a unique combination of a hefeweizen (unfiltered wheat beer), and a bock (robust malty ale). The wheat adds a citrus like flavor and light body, the unique yeast strain produces clove like character and banana esters. The addition of toasted malts adds even more complexity to this already full-flavored style. As they say in Germany- prosit!

This offering from Otter Creek pours a dark plum with a lite maroon bottom that leaves a thin tan head that disappears quickly. The aroma is sweet dark fruits, plum and figs, banana, caramel, fresh herbs, and nutmeg. The taste starts much like the nose sweet caramel, dark malt, wheat, lemon, banana that has a refreshing burst of carbonation that is followed by a bready syrup mouthfeel that has bit of alcohal in the finish. This is a fantstic brew, glad I punched a ticket for the Otter Creek World Tour.

Complex aroma ranging between coffee, chocolate and nuts. Very dark amber coloring, blocks a lot of light. Some amount of fine brown sediment in the glass. Malty tastes with a light sweet start and light bitter finish. Creamy mouth feel.

Tried a bottled sample of this one at the brewery in Middlebury, VT. I like the fact that Otter Creek decided to do a weizenbock as one of their World Tour beers, and this is a good domestic example of the style. This beer pours to a murky deep mahogany color, with a thick, rocky, white head, and a lively carbonation. The nose on this beer is interesting with good caramel and sweet malt aroma, touchs of roast, hints of clove spice, and estery aromas of apple and ripe banana. The palate is firm, with good sweet and caramel flavor, paired with some nice fruity esters of pear, banana, and apple. This beer finishes with more good malt and esters up front, then ends with some spicy clove and peppery notes that linger. Stylistically a pretty authentic example of the style. Makes for a great beer to enjoy during the winter months, and would match well with hearty fare or deserts.

22oz bottle from Doclock. Dark brown with a nice size head.m The carbonation on this beer was crazy! The flavor was crazy too. Fruity roasted bananna aroma and flavor. also detected sweet lite coffee notes in the smooth finish.

WHAT A NICE BEER! rolls nicely into a glass (in its own time). looks real good (all dark caramel) in the glass. quickly dissapating head. banana fruit and quality sweetness with great body and drinkability. nice and yes robust maltiness it is substantial and complex. i get more plum than citrus as this bottle and it is from last year. unpasturised and -more healthful- with b vitamin and natural niacin enhancement. too many reasons not to rate this a 4. otter creek is one of -thee breweries- to brag about in the north east. DO NOT MISS OUT BEER LOVER!

Dark chestnut color, collapsing beige head. Excellent aroma of caramel, almonds, overripe bananas, hint of spices. Medium-full body, lush carbonation, creamy. Flavors of caramel covered almonds, slight roast, banana esters and more. Rich and integrated flavors, outstanding malt profile. Warming, hint of sour yeast and finishing a bit dry. Very good brew.

BOMBER. Pours a dark brune body with a tan head. Malty body with a nice dark fruit character, raisins, caramel, and roast. Malty fruity body with a modest etoh character. Chocolate, coco, and a lighter citrus with some light spices. Love it.

Poured dark ruby with a thick tan head. Good retention. Nose is wheat, chocolate, cloves, banana and butterscotch. Notes of toffee and coffee are added into the flavor. Full palate which was very smooth. This is a style that is hard for American Breweries to copy. It was nice but nothing like the German versions I’ve had. Great beer that I would have again.
