jeremytoni (1069), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Jul 26, 2009 From a bottle poured amber with a fair amount of head. Nice light hoppy flavor with a quick finish. Very drinkable. yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA May 2, 2009 Murky color not quite clear with a small white head fades fast. Aroma of some hops with belgian spice and yeast. Some sweetness. Taste is balanced and light with some candy and spice. Alcohol not really noticable, not that great. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 26, 2009 Thanks Crushintor for sharing this bomber which was not finishable but interesting yeasty beer. Woodsy and Sourish yet not a brown, rising carbonation bubbles yet not overcarbonated. Boozy with medium mouthfeel, somewhat creamy, then drying aftertaste. Good off-white head and lacing though blondish coloured body.Unclassifiable, really.
SHIG (2012), Aviano, Italy Mar 23, 2009 Bottle: Pours a clear golden color with an off white head. Aroma is sweet with malt and butter oxidized. Taste is crazy sweet roasted malts with sugary fruit. Something is off between this sugary sweet mess. Cletus (5002), Connecticut, USA Feb 19, 2009 Pours gold with a thin white head. Smells of butter, bread, biscuits. Tastes velvety with some toasty elements on the finish. beastiefan2k (1590), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Dec 24, 2008 22oz bottle poured into Melbourne Bros glass. Pours a clear orange/amber color with a small head. The clear body shows off a nice sparkling, carbonation-visible body. Aroma is aged malt, been sitting on the selves for probably about 5 months but smells like a few years, but that maube for the best. Its fruity cardboard, lightly Belgian-y dough and lightly sweet. Taste is a bit less aged but still there. Otherwise, a mix of Belgian dough with a light easy drinking pale ale-ish feel. rather fine stuff, no alcohol heft to it at all. I am surprised at the low score. Gets very murky and thick looking with further bottle pours. bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Oct 8, 2008 Maybe better classified as an Impy Blonde. Pours a slight yeasty-hazed golden color, with a medium-thin head that leaves soapy lace down the glass. Very crystal, bready aroma with some aerated sugars. Esters and malt upfront, cleanly bittering to a toasted nutty back-palate. Some residual sugars present midway through the pull, which hint at a slightly higher ABV than average for the style. Much more complex than the "average" golden blonde (one of the messiest categories in the industry), which accounts for the "Impy" suggestion. Not bad, and better than I thought it was going to be. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Aug 28, 2008 17-Jul-08 (22-oz bottle: Obtained 11-Jan-08 in trade with jjpm74, thanks John!) Expecting a typical pale-colored and easy drinking beer, Otteroo is unexpectedly malty, toasty, earthy and fruity with mild hop flavor and bitterness plus a touch of butteriness. The almost chocolaty earthiness suggests accelerated aging has occurred -- very tasty! The nose is earthy, toasty and somewhat chocolaty, but offers no hop aroma. Again, the impression of a wonderfully cellared beer. Medium-bodied, soft carbonation, smooth and silky on the palate. Golden-amber and slightly hazy with the half-inch of off-white head settling back to a wide ring. Not sure how this beer tasted when fresh, but after six months of personal cellaring, it in no way comes across like an Aussie Sparkling Ale. Very enjoyable.
