The aroma is surprisingly light, a touch of Oud Bruin sweetness. The taste is similar, with a pleasant tartness. Lots of dark, pungent fruit taste. Malty and sticky sweet, very easy to drink, really does remind me of Belgium. Not "true" to style, but certainly enjoyable. thirdeye11 (563), Texas, USA

Nose of light chocolate. Taste has light chocolate, vinous, creamy and well carbonated. Oddly drinkable and full of flavor.
I guess I disagreed with about everyone on this one. beastiefan2k (1607), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 5, 2009 22oz bottle poured into a copita glass. It pours with a very dark brown color. Aroma is a very spicy yeastiness and black bread with even some caraway seed like spiciness and breadiness. Taste is a bit sweeter and plummy with that sweet black bread flavor common to the style. Has a light;y fizzy finish, which brings it down to the Otter Creek level. blutt59 (2184), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 20, 2009 Pours a two finger light tan head that fades quickly to a thin layer, leaving traces of lace. Cloudy mahogany color. Strong carbonation and medium bodied. Slight malty nose. Flavor is tart with hints of caramel, unusual for a Belgian dubbel. $4.85 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma. CaptainCougar (5538), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 26, 2009 Pours a hazy mahogany with a frothy, spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of tart cherries and lightly sweet biscuity caramel malt. Body starts fairly full and finely carbonated with a light toasty malty sweetness, some doughty yeasty notes and a tart light fruity balance toward the finish. I was expecting something a little sweeter calling this a dubbel, but the tartness is right on target for a Flanders red ale. mar (1972), Dallas, Texas, USA
