Produced a dark brown, clear body with a small fully diminishing amber head of foam. The raspberries and chocolate mentioned were evident in it’s nose, though it was a little light. A bit watery, this ale had a fruitiness to it and was slightly sweet. Not too bad, though the wateriness of it made it a little disappointing. gws57 (1151), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Found this one bottled in South Elgin, Illinois. Clear, dark reddish brown pour with a wispy, tan head. A bit of fruity candy in the nose, berries and cinnamon toast; raspberry and sweet malts permeate this one but it is nuanced as well, the berries taper into a smooth, yeasty character. Somewhat offputting chalky finish, but pretty good overall. ChainGangGuy (2619), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Appearance: Pours a clear, brown body with a dark pinkish tint to it and topped by a tall, khaki-colored head.
Smell: Over-the-counter raspberry-flavored cold medicine with a meek, humble brown ale scent lurking down there somewhere.
Taste: Mild brown malt flavor with some sweetish, grainy notes and a hint of cocoa. Surprisingly subdued raspberry character. No more than a very light bitterness. Tiny dash of cough syrup in the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: I can’t decide whether to say it’s "okay" or "tolerable", so let’s just put both words out there. Spoiler Alert - this beer gets kinda harsh as it warms, so keep it cold. mansquito (850), Boston/Philadelphia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 28, 2007 Really dark brown, lacing with a beige head. Smells like cake, raspberry, dough, and malts. Taste of malts and raspberries. Bready finish. Basically, it tastes like a brown ale and has raspberries in it. I don’t know why it is rated so low, because frankly, it demonstrates what you can do with a fruit beer... you can have a full beer taste and a nice fruity side and balance it well. Extra points for what fruit beers ought to be like. Funknmilla (604), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 27, 2007 12 oz bottle...Dark brown with reddish hues...light brown sugar head..fluffy it is...smells of sweet raspberry malty sugary goodness, soothing aroma....body is thinner than I expected, but its clean and refreshing...I taste a strong presence of malts initially, then a flush of malted raspberries, finishes with some mild mocha, raspberries don’t seem to be the focus of this ale, its good though, sadly I probably wouldn’t buy a six pack of it again, perhaps a bomber guzzler67 (1289), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Dec 26, 2007 Deep brown appearance with a tinge of red. Medium sized tan head left good lacing. Raspberries were evident in the aroma, but not to the extent that they are in many fruit beers. Dark chocolate also noticable. Earthy, briar patch taste, sparingly hopped, complimented by roasted malts; a modest sweetness from the fruit. Medium bodied, but the palate was a little shallow. Lingering, semi-dry finish. radagast83 (1317), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 26, 2007 Bottle. Something about this beer was just too artificial for me, if it was brewed with real raspberries then maybe it was just my tastebuds. The aroma however was excellent. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 25, 2007 Raspberry, choclate. Can you screw that up. Ottercreek proves that you can’t. This brought it all back too me. The reason why I persue fruit beers. Prefectly Pure.
