| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 20, 2009 Presentation: It was poured from12oz brown bottle into a pint glass. There is a bottled on date.
Appearance: The body has a dark appearance with good clarity and very deep brownish amber color. On top there is a huge light tan head that has great retention. It lasts all the way to the last sip slowly fading down to thin cap along the way. Also it makes for some cool splotchy lacing on the glass.
Smell: The aroma has notes raspberries and rich lightly roasted malt.
Taste/Mouth Feel: The base of the flavor is a sweet, lightly roasted malt with light buttery, bready and raspberry that adds a little tartness. Hop flavor is very light and understated. It has a solid medium body and its carbonation is light on the tongue with a smooth almost creamy feel.
Notes: Overall I thick this is a solid beer.

Malty, thick taste Less coffee in the taste than aroma, but still present. Don’t taste the raspberries, though. This was a nice surprise.
Re-rate 2007-01-10: Lately I haven’t been able to get enough of this. Great, interesting taste. beastiefan2k (1603), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 2, 2009 Tap @ Standings Bar. Pours with a nice thick head that sticks around for a while, never actually fades. The head sits atop a brown body with ruby tints. Aroma is roast-y chestnut and sweet nuttiness. I have not had such a nutty brew in a while, I was highly impressed. with the aroma and no raspberry to be found. Taste is clean nuttiness with a bit of sweet fruit at the very end of the flavor, would not even peg it as raspberry. It was surprisingly a good brown ale and definitely not a fruit beer. Maybe the draft is very different than the bottle because what I had was not as crappy as the ratings seem to indicate. LtDan (516), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Appearance: Pours a brownish red with small swirls of white looking from the top down.
Aroma: Smells like a cherry or raspberry tootsie roll pop.
Taste: A quick zap of burnt chocolate malt followed by tart raspberry and a touch of earthy hops in the finish. I get a lot of tootsie roll pop flavor as well. I’m not complaining either.
Mouthfeel: Perfectly carbonated, medium bodied.
Overall: Really tasty, and came off like a dessert beer in my book. This was my very first Otter Creek beer. nuplastikk (1205), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

My hat goes off to Otter Creek for coming up with a raspberry brown beer in the first place. Filtered toffee brown color. Smooth brown malt and delicate raspberry flavors, alongside a nice mellow malty base. A very nice new American winter beer. JFGrind (1353), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA

There may be a few reasons...including me in a good mood with hope the Philadelphia Iggles would beat the Dallas Cowboys (& they did), consuming it outside in 39 degree weather late on a Sunday afternoon while pre-game BBQ-ing. Raspberry aroma dominates, crimson/brown body, thin head, and raz, chocolate, roasted malts flavor. I found it drinkable and with no evident hops or spice a makes unique winter beer. bruno1378 (120), Epping, New Hampshire, USA
