Commercial Description:
We’re rolling out a new Imperial series with the first beer scheduled to release January ’09. These larger-than-life beers will be sold in 22 oz bottles and on draft. Brewed with more malts and more hops, these beers are big, bold, flavorful, and high-octane. The first in the series is a Russian Imperial Stout. The style was first brewed in England for the Russian Czar and it is the king of stouts. Plenty of big malt flavors- chocolate and roasted- and high alcohol with lower carbonation and mild hops. We brewed this beer with double the malts and four times the hops of regular stouts! Otter Creek Russian Imperial Stout clocks in around 10% ABV- a beer to be savored responsibly. True to style, this beer will last for years so you may want to stock up on a few bottles for your cellar while it’s available.

Bottle. Pours opaque black with a creamy frothy brown head with some nice retention and lacing. Aroma was roasted coffee, chocolate, toffee, roasted malts, and slight smoke. Thick creamy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Flavor is rich and full with strong coffee, rich sweet chocolate, espresso, roasted malts and toffee with a medium to full body and has a dry and roasty finish. awesome imp stout

Pours a dark black with little carbonation. A very nice stout. The chocolate malt is predominate. The high alcohol content is well hidden. A must buy.

22oz bottle. Fresh. Pours a bubbly, glossy, black with a nice head of dark tan bubbles. Aroma is chocolate and roast with some sweet lactose notes. Flavors are rich chocolate, coffee roast and a very interesting roasted peanut finish on the back of the palate. I didn’t notice until my roommate pointed it out, but the roasty peanut character is definitely there. Good stuff. Really impressed with Otter Creek.

Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours deep dark with clear brown edges and thin tan head. The aroma is rich, yummy and drool inducing. It smells of sweet caramel mixing with burn molasses and roastiness. I then get a rich sugary fudge note. Wow! The taste is sweet burnt molasses bleeding into dark roastiness, modest burnt and drying malts. It gets a bit chocolate malt ball like into the finish with lingering roasty to burnt malts. YUM!

HUGE head from a somewhat vigorous pour that settles very slowly. About 3 inches of brown dense creamy foam that is frothy on top. Rich chocolaty aroma with lots of roasted grains, some mild coffee and some lactose. Essentially black in color. Medium bodied. Flavor is strong but the thickness of the brew is lacking. Strong burnt toast, roasted grains, piney hops and some mild coffee again. Alcohol is hidden very well. Finshes long strong roasted grains and ash. A pretty decent imperial stout.

22 oz. bottle. A jet-black pour with a finger-thick chestnut/mocha head. The aroma features some roasted coffee, dark chocolate, toasted caramel malts, vanilla, and grapefruitiness in the background. Goes down thick, full-bodied, and kinda smooth. Toasty caramel, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and vanilla start things off taste-wise. Bitter grapefruits at the end. Finishes with some sour lemons. Some alcohol warmth is present throughout.

Bomber->snifter: Pours a large, brown head that exhibits spare lacing atop a black body. Aroma is a toasted concoction of some sorts. Full bodied, average carbonation, and bitter chocolate. Flavor’s duration is bitter and the texture is gritty. Lightly acidic and bitter, ending like sour milk. Pretty good in my opinion.

I’ve heard good things about this one and it was true. Poured black with nice lasting head. Nose is malt, roasty, alcohol and burnt coffee. Flavor is rich caramel, some booze, coffee, and bitter chocolate. Good mouthfeel. Very nice beer.
