Commercial Description:
We’re rolling out a new Imperial series with the first beer scheduled to release January ’09. These larger-than-life beers will be sold in 22 oz bottles and on draft. Brewed with more malts and more hops, these beers are big, bold, flavorful, and high-octane. The first in the series is a Russian Imperial Stout. The style was first brewed in England for the Russian Czar and it is the king of stouts. Plenty of big malt flavors- chocolate and roasted- and high alcohol with lower carbonation and mild hops. We brewed this beer with double the malts and four times the hops of regular stouts! Otter Creek Russian Imperial Stout clocks in around 10% ABV- a beer to be savored responsibly. True to style, this beer will last for years so you may want to stock up on a few bottles for your cellar while it’s available.

Pours black with a creamy tan head. Aroma is coffee and molasses. Taste is dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, espresso, alcohol. Surprisingly thin for a beer so big and flavorful. Long finish of coffee and brownies. Great beer, but with less alcohol and more body it would be outstanding.

Bottle. Black beer with a brown head. Light roast and chocolate aroma with light oatmeal. Chocolate and light roast flavor. Medium-plus bodied. Chooclate and cocoa lingers with light roast and light oatmeal. Not so impressed.

Most impressive I’ve tasted on the Otter Creek line. Lots of roasty aromas and flavors. Deep chocolate appearance. An enticing hint of cherry/raspberry fruit behind that essential first sip. A good russian imperial that hides its alcohol very well.

22oz. bottle, with thanks to 46er3498. Pours a dark black with a nice tan head that lingers. Aroma is licorice, dark fruits, anise and other spices, chocolate and light espresso. Flavor is more of the same, with licorice, chocolate, spice and light espresso. This leans a bit medicinal at times but otherwise is a unique and interesting RIS. Thanks again Tom!

pours black with mild cream head. nose of burnt wood, smoke and carmel. taste is little sweet, like sweet molasses, maybe a little fig and a hint of chocolate. the 10.5% alcohol hides nicely behind the roast. a nice balanced imp stout.

SourFest II. Black color with no head. Butterscotch aroma. Light bitter taste, mostly piney hops. More butterscotch and malt sweetness. Finishes with coffee.

Bottle Pours a deep black with a creamy tan head. The head last well and laces great. Has a good aroma of roasted chocolate, sweet fruits and alcohol. Has a good carbination and a zingy mouthfeel. Has a nice alcohol burn. The flavors are good and party on the tongue. Definetly has a good alchol bite. A heavy body and a real strong finish. Has a watery texture. Not as thick as I would expect. A good drinking stout with a kick butt attitude.

Bottle (660ml) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, tupalev & jerc -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a small diminishing bubbly light-brown head. Aroma’s roasty along with coffee, cream, dark fruit and alcohol. Flavour’s also roasty with coffee along with hops, a hint of peat, bitter chocolate and some alcohol. Medium bodied. A nice surprise, this was very good, well done Otter Creek!
