Commercial Description:
We’re rolling out a new Imperial series with the first beer scheduled to release January ’09. These larger-than-life beers will be sold in 22 oz bottles and on draft. Brewed with more malts and more hops, these beers are big, bold, flavorful, and high-octane. The first in the series is a Russian Imperial Stout. The style was first brewed in England for the Russian Czar and it is the king of stouts. Plenty of big malt flavors- chocolate and roasted- and high alcohol with lower carbonation and mild hops. We brewed this beer with double the malts and four times the hops of regular stouts! Otter Creek Russian Imperial Stout clocks in around 10% ABV- a beer to be savored responsibly. True to style, this beer will last for years so you may want to stock up on a few bottles for your cellar while it’s available.

Bottle courtesy of RealityDeviant on 04/30/2009. Dark black body with a medium creamy brown head. Sweet chocolate and coffee aroma wtih a roast background. Chocolate and coffee flavor with a bit of a bitter finish. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

Poured the usual brown-black, ok initial chocolate covered head, although the lacing was only mediocre. The aroma was strong coffee, some toffee. The flavor was super strong coffee all over the place, but in a good way for the most part, no chocolate detected, per the bottle, some roast. The mouthfeel was moderately bodied, acidic. Primary drawback was some under-attenuation and astringency, but a pretty good OC brew, first in a while? Decent if you like coffee in your IS’s.

22oz. - Perfect Pour. Black, tan cream head. Ashy roasted caramel coffee and cream aromas develop into underlying notes of smoked pistachio nut. Dark chocolate and currant tones swirl with a faint toasted vanilla bean shot. Black chocolate and coffee caramel flavors balance on warm French vanilla notes. Full hop backing in the end rounds the monster malt bill out well. Full bodied, soft carbonation, drying, bittersweet finish. Great job Otter Creek! Looking forward to the new D-IPA…

Roast coffee and dark bitter chocolate in the nose .. . black as a door that was once red but now is painted black .. . . fantastic roast level in the mouth .. . low head for a RIS, but constant medium ring .. .. Yaz is for whores .. . damn fine aroma.. . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fgg2kwcsvHo . . Goes down so smooth, way to easy to drink, the 10.5% is no where to be found, even checked under a few rocks, nothing... . This is a great little unknown RIS, recommended!! .. . that sign in the mens room about washing your hands, that’s just for the employees, right???

From a 22 oz bottle this poured very black with a big foamy tan head and very pronounced lacing rings. Nose of roasted malts with lots of chocolate and a little coffee. Very rich and creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is chocolate and ripe fruit. light bitterness in the finish. Very easy drinking a top flight RIS.

This is a better than average imperial stout. Black. Lightly roasted malt, and some hop presence. A little sweet, from the malt, but the roasted character lingers as well. A little fruit, and some red wine.

Nice stuff. Pours very dark. Aroma is hoppy for a stout. Flavor is very standup, but not standout. Tastes how an imperial stout should, nothing more or less.
