| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 20, 2009 Pours a motor oil black with a small tan head. Aroma is mostly bitter chocolate and coffee, not too complex, but still smells quite yummy. Flavor is decent- same straight forward stout flavor, nothing too interesting. Palate is a bit disappointing, flavor seems to slide away from the tongue a bit too quickly. Still one of Otter Creek’s better beers, but nothing special for the style. vtafro (475), , New Jersey, USA

After having Achel Extra this provided an entirely different style. Pour was black with a good tan head that mellowed in time. Aroma of chocolate and roasted coffee. Flavor was executed well with caramel sweetness along with chocolate and coffee. Hops are really a side note to the flavor.Abv is hidden well. Overall great beer. hopheadfett (50), Oak Ridge, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 12, 2009 Pours black, with dark brown head, that lingers throughout with a decent lace. Nose is malt, coffee, light smoke, toffee and chocolate. Taste is intense, starts with strong espresso and roasted malt, finishes slightly bitter, with a strong toasty finish. Overall, I enjoyed this, and was impressed at Otter Creeks attempt at an Imp. stout. thirdeye11 (535), Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 12, 2009 (22oz bomber thanks to ballewblake) Pours almost black with nice dark brown head. Coats the glass. Nose is complex with smoke, alcohol, crown sugar and cocoa. Taste is unsweet bitter chocolate, needs creaminess. This is thick and has an odd aftertaste. The appearance and smell built this one up for me, but didn’t quite hit the mark like I had hoped after that. mar (1846), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 6, 2009 Pours black and oily with a nice, creamy dark brown head. It has a very sweet aroma of mocha latte and fresh ground coffee beans. I like it. Tastes very chocolatey, slightly vinous, smooth and sweet. Very roasted with oak flavors in the background. (not oak aged) Theres some caramel, coffee, and toffee flavors in there as well. It’s tasty and smooth, but lacks the complexity of the great imperial stouts. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 29, 2009 Draft at the Blind Tiger. Poured typically dark with an off white head. Nose was strong on coffee and burnt malts with hints of chocolate. Flavor followed similarly. Nice firm and strong bitter finish. But slightly thin for an imperial in mouthful. timsilvia32 (447), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 27, 2009 22 oz. Almost black pour with a good sized dark tan head. The creamy foam stuck around quite a while and laced fairly well. Very roasty coffee and malt aromas. Definetely some char with some booze also. A good balance of chocolates, coffee, some piney hops. Feels and tastes like a fair amount of malt in this, mouthfeel was almost creamy. There was quite a bit of bitter ash like tastes lingering throughout, but I did not find it as off-putting as others here. Finish was slightly bitter, some soy, but oatmeal like as well. I was really pleased with this one, especially for the below average price tag for an Imperial. Don’t let the downers dissuade you from trying this one.
