Feb 14, 2009 22oz bottle shared by riversideAK. Pours a very dark, almost black, murky brown with a off-white head. Roasty chocolate nose and taste is more of the same and a bit heavy on the carbonation for me. Clean and drinkable, but nothing exciting.

Jan 23, 2009 Bomber. Poured muddy medium brown with no head sticking around. The aroma picked up semi-sweet chocolate and caramel with some spicy accents and light peppery alcohol.. on the simple side, but well done. The flavor found caramel, chocolate, and cola sweetness at the core with herbal and lesser coffee bitterness around.. finished sweet with light roast and a hint of tangy warmth. Medium-bodied on the palate and it could’ve used a bit more carbonation.. spicy and engaging on the back. Solid, but unspectacular brew.

Dec 31, 2008 Thanks durhambeer for leaving. Pours a dark brown with a one finger light tan head. The nose was grainy, chocolate, coffee, roasty, malty. The flavor is thin and grainy, some caramel, roasty, mildly sweet. The palate is roasty, mildly bitter. The palate is roasty and mildly bitter. M-e-d-i-o-c-r-e.

Dec 29, 2008 Thanks to Bob? for sharing this one! Dark brown pour and khaki colored head. Bittersweet chocolate on the nose. Thin bodied BP which IMO is the flaw here. Cream and chocolate slightly dry.

Dec 15, 2008 Bottle from 46er3428. Strong dark chocolate in the aromas. SOme roasted malts and a little dark bread too. Dark brown pour with almost no head. Flavors of dark chocolate and roast. Rather robust. Some bready malts make an appearance. Some lingering dry roast. The beer is lager like and clean all things considered.

Nov 29, 2008 JUST a touch of sugar and good hops in this pleasant baltic porter. dark with nice moderate body and gravymaster soy sauce type malt and barley flavors with a bit of caraway seed. infused and busy it none the less is entertaining, satisfying and leaves one wanting more with its neatly dry finish. a bit chewy like the black bread that is described on the bottle. light brown head and slightly toasty it is barely fuity with cherry and -perhaps- a chocolate component. nice!

Oct 27, 2008 22. Thanks, 46er3498! Pours black with bright garnet highlights. Thin tan rim. Mild roasty chocolate nose. Creamy medium body. Lots of chocolate on the mid-palate. Mild herbal finish. Not a hugely distinctive beer, but has a pretty nice mouthfeel.
