Commercial Description:
Our 12th "stop" on the World Tour: "Sphinx" is an Egyptian-inspired multigrain ale brewed with Vermont honey and chamomile. The Ancient Egyptians were the first to brew beer, and they also were the first to grow many of the grains we use today. We brewed this golden ale with spelt, millet, rye, oats, barley, and wheat; for a well-deserved tribute to the ancient inventors of beer.

Quick-hit observations: * Clear, golden yellow * No head * Malty smell with some honey * Taste of German malt * Tangy, bready * Hints of white wine grape * Feels smooth, silky, like honey * Some cereal and cinnamon in the taste * Smooth and thick; a sipper. * Interesting, not amazing.

( 22oz bottle thanks to ballewblake) Pours an opaque orange, with little head. Nose is cinnamon, sour cherry, chamomile, and quite herbal. Smells amazing. Taste consists of honey, sour tart cherries and spices. The finish is crisp, linger is good, but the smell is definitely the best part of this one.

Pours a light amber with some lace. Smells of malt, some zest, chamomile. Flavor is chamomile tea and biscuits. Honey used well and is not overpowering. All the grains give a good body to this brew. Very pleased.

Slightly hazy pale golden beer. White head. The aroma is really interesting. Strong sweet cookie-dough nose with a lot of vanilla and soft biscuity malts. It smells a bit like Southern Tier’s Pumpking, but without all of the spiciness that defines that beer. A sweet sort of caramelly pie crust sweetness that I think works really well. Softly sweet with a kiss of gingery spice. It’s sort of granola-esque. It’s surprisingly tasty.

From a bottle poured light amber with a good amount of head. Sweet malty flavor with a lingering finish.

22oz bottle-pours a dissipating white head and yellow/gold color. OK, after having half the bottle found yeast is at the bottom. Second half is hazy yellow/gold. Aroma is honey, herbal/floral/perfumy, light malt-bready. Taste is ginger/nutmeg-spice. OK carbonation. Interesting. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for sharing.

Bottle from SL. The pour was golden orange, small head, some lacing. The aroma was spicey, some light wheaty type grainy notes. The flavor was a bit too watery for me, light grain elements in the weak malt backbone, finishing with spicey touches, but overall bland spice water. Needed more specialty grain presence, a pure failure by OC on this one.
