Commercial Description:
This is a traditional porter, made to warm the bones. Nearly black in color, Stovepipe Porter has a rich palate and a roasted, hoppy and slightly herbal aroma.

Good, solid, workaday porter. No off characteristics. Poured with a lovely frothy foamy head and lotsa lace. Very dark/opaque color. Chocolatey earthy yet soft flavor and body. Clean and balanced. Really good beer. Session as a matter of FACT. Haw. God is on my side.

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours a dark brown with red hue, tan head. Aroma of chocolate. Flavor of chocolate, dark roast, slight bitter. Mouthfeel is light body, watery, and high carbonation. Overall, allthough the characteristics of a good porter are there, just needs more "Umph" in flavor and mouthfeel. Nice looking bottle though.........

bottle from RCL through trade. poured a dark brown almost black with red hue and a tan head with good retention. aroma of chocolate, coffee, and dark roasts. flavor of light malt with coffee, chocolate, and hops. palate was rather watery though. this was ok but not memorable.

Otter Creek Stovepipe Porter is deep brown in color with zero head. With a slightly watery look and consistency, this beer is a very characteristic porter. The flavor has some notes of coffee and smoke while a bitter hop backdrop is present.

I liked this beer as much as any VT beer I tried on this trip! almost a total blackout with a brown head. Roasted malt aroma with some chocolate and coffee. Flavor is coffee and roasted/toasted malt. Good mouthfeel. I like it.

Has the elements of a great porter, but also has the elements that drag all too many porters down . . . a heavy, woody gut-feel. But flavor-wise it’s delish. No head retention on this one.

Currently playing: Sibelius’s 2nd for the bazillionth time.

(Bottle). Malty aroma. Near black in color, with a light brown head. Flavor is mostly coffee and malt, with a toffee finish. Not as complex or interesting as some other porters, but not bad.

Bottle (not the freshest). Pours an almost-but-not-quite-opaque darkest brown with a moderate offwhite head. Aroma is a bit roasty, smoky. Flavor is roasty coffee, cocoa, and a very noticable smokey note. Smoke manages to be the primary flavor while still nicely emphasizing the big, roasty malt. Hop profile is only hinted at at this stage of aging. Well done porter, great if you’re a big fan of smoked porters.
