This is a traditional porter, made to warm the bones. Nearly black in color, Stovepipe Porter has a rich palate and a roasted, hoppy and slightly herbal aroma.

Pours mahogany into a shaker. Tan head quickly dissipates to oil surface. Chocolate aromas. Roasted espresso with a dry, thin lasting smoke finish.

Appearance is almost black with a pure brown head. Aroma has moderate appeal of herbal roast. Taste is full of roast, but is not overpowering like other stouts and is quite well balanced. I don’t pick up any chocolate or coffee flavoring. Finish is dry with a note of hops, but still smooth. Not a great flavor sensation, but well balanced if you like a roast taste.

coffee aroma. Pours dark brown with thin tan head. Good beer. Flavorful. More malts than hops, but balanced. Lacing is average to below. Medium body, goes well with most hearty meals. Beer of the month. fresh. good. Mouthfeel has a little carbonation bite and mouth burn.

12 oz bottle-poured a black coffee color w/no head, did have some decent legs/lacing. Roasted malt aroma. Had some sweetness up front, a little chocolate & coffee, also had some fizz/carbination. Nice smokey flavor w/a long full finish. Not overly complex/intense; enjoyable & refreshing. This is one of the few porters/stouts which could be a sesson brew. I’ll have this one again.

I have had worse. This is a decent porter but not one of the best of its style but very enjoyable. Pours a nice dark brown. Medium head. Has a bit of a chocolate flavor with a decent amount of maltyness. Is is yeast I taste? I’m not sure. Tastes a bit watery but not too bad. I have it again.

It carries a roasted aroma of coffee and chocolate. It is well bittered with grassy hops. The mouthfeel left a little to be desired. In seemed slightly thin and perhaps a bit basic. Overall, a good example of an American Porter. This would make a decent session ale.
