This is a traditional porter, made to warm the bones. Nearly black in color, Stovepipe Porter has a rich palate and a roasted, hoppy and slightly herbal aroma.

12oz bottle. Pours a cola-brown, with a small off-white head. Plenty of charred and tea-like malts in the aroma; a hint of smoke. The body is surprisingly light; light-to-medium mouthfeel, somewhat watery; roasted malts, coffee, and some milk chocolate; the finish is the most satisfying part: nice roasted quality with some smoke and good hoppy bitterness.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma’s of choclate, roast, cream, and coffee. Scent is a little weak. Poured dark brown in color with a small light brown head that lasted. Creak with a flashlight. Flavor is choclate, coffee, and a little cream. Some hop bitterness in the middle and end. Sweet, semi-dry finish is short. Medium to full body. Average carbonation. Texture is a little thin. Overall, a decent Porter, but missing something in both flavor and body.

Tap at Henry St. Dark muddy brown with a light brown head. Aroma of burnt coffee and possibly unsweetened cocoa. Flavor predominately dark coffee malt, with a slight acidity and mild bitterness on the finish. A background of smokiness which is not really smoky per se, but rather tastes similar to those dark brown overcooked kernels of popcorn at the bottom of the microwave bag. Generally smooth palate. Pretty good for a winter change of pace, but nothing to go nuts over.

12 oz. Bottle. Another beer of the month club beers. Pours clear dark red with a quickly dissipating head and sparse lacing. Caramel, and chocolate/brownie mix. Smooth chocolate and sweet malt in the front and a roast bite in the finish. Well made beer.

The flavor is the strong point predominant roasted malt balanced by hopps. It is too carbonated and very thin on the palate. It is a lite beer amoung porters. Not likely to buy again.

Bottle: Pours a dark brown/black color. Smell has a very nice chocolate and coffee smell. Taste seems to be a tad watered down as the smell is very misleading. The smell leads me to believe that this will have a very coffee like flavor, instead I find a very mild taste, with a watery feel. A little to light on the palate.
