"Roasted" is the key word for this porter, in aroma, flavor, and palate. Deep brown with a slender tan head, roasted malts cover an underlying sweet aroma. Smooth to drink, the roast continues along with a touch of woody smokiness. Lightly bitter finish. Nice.

Bottle. Dark cola-brown body topped with a thin beige bubbly head. Nice malty/hoppy aroma with roasted cereals and plummy notes. Very well balanced malty taste that ends with a pretty decent roasty finish. Good average porter.

Pours a deep dark brown color. Aromas of chocolate, coffee and a hint of hops. Flavor light chocolate, coffee, and a touch of tobacco. Medium body with a smooth dry finish.

Bottle: Nice pitch black beer with a firm head and bountiful aroma of coffee, chocolate and maybe even cherries. After the awesome introduction, the flavor was a bit of a letdown, shallower than I’d hoped. A hint of smoke, roastiness. But mostly an easy drinker. Good, I guess, but I felt like I’d been made an unfulfilled promise.

12 oz bottle. Dark brown light ruby tint and a thin off-white head. Very coffeeish aroma. Light fruit, but really smells like an iced coffee. Some dark chocolate within a very roasty aroma. Some acidic notes as well. Earthy, sweet malty aroma. Falvour is quite sweet, toasted grain and light butterscotch. Fairly chewy. Heavily roasted but the sweet buttery flavours are really ruining the pint for me.

(Bottle (bottled 12/7/05) from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/massachusetts/w target=blank>Julio’s Liquors) Pours the color of dark birch beer with an inch or so of biege head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, touch of caramel. Poor lacing. Mouthfeel is smooth, a little watery. Flavor is fairly bitter coffee and chocolate with a bit of a vegetal note. Flavor is on the weak side. Finishes lightly bitter with some grassiness.

Profound brown coloured hue mounted by a small off-white head, diminishing quickly to nothingness. Rather straightforward porter showing good roasted malt extraction, generating soft earthy truffles notes that linger on. Restrained acidity from the grain, limited flavor complexity. Biscuity malt profile. Medium bodied, honest fair carbonation initially dulls out a bit after ~10 minutes. Right in the middle of dry and sweet. A mellow bitterness develops toward the finish, but appears to be derived more from malt than the shy hops.
