Commercial Description:
This is a traditional porter, made to warm the bones. Nearly black in color, Stovepipe Porter has a rich palate and a roasted, hoppy and slightly herbal aroma.

My favorite Otter Creek offering. Toasty malt greets, accompanied by surrounding hop presence. Finishes with a tantalizing bitter hop lingerness. First tasted it several years ago up in New Hampshire; glad it’s finally available down here in Maryland!

One of OC’s best products, IMO. This porter is up there with the best of them. Not sweet, but nice and smooth and dry. The color is exceptional.

On tap at Afterwards Cafe, Dupont Circle. They list their 10 on tap beers from lightest to darkest. Nice touch. I started with second to darkest - this one. Seemed weak. I moved on to the darkest, also by Otter Creek, Wolavers Oatmeal Stout, which was much better.

Dark brown appearance, decent head formation. Freshly baked, slightly burnt, cookie aroma, mildly citric hoppiness. Fairly thin on the palate with plenty of grapefruit hop citrus. Dark chocolate, nuttiness and mild coffee a but overshadowed by the hops.

I find this to be an excellent every day meal beer. Stands on it’s own but does not overpower food.

Pretty good beer and I’d have it again. Kind of smokey taste but certainly not overpowering. Nice mouthfeel and palate. Dark and rich tasting.

Ugh. This was very close to a drain-pour. There was a heavy bitter-smoky bite and insufficient sweetness to balance it. Thin mouthfeel, chemical aftertaste.
