Toasty malt greets, accompanied by surrounding hop presence. Finishes with a tantalizing bitter hop lingerness. First tasted it several years ago up in New Hampshire; glad it’s finally available down here in Maryland! dondk (28), leetsdale, Pennsylvania, USA

They list their 10 on tap beers from lightest to darkest. Nice touch. I started with second to darkest - this one.
Seemed weak. I moved on to the darkest, also by Otter Creek, Wolavers Oatmeal Stout, which was much better.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 3, 2005 Dark brown appearance, decent head formation. Freshly baked, slightly burnt, cookie aroma, mildly citric hoppiness. Fairly thin on the palate with plenty of grapefruit hop citrus. Dark chocolate, nuttiness and mild coffee a but overshadowed by the hops. Pinnhead (93), New Jersey, USA

Nice mouthfeel and palate. Dark and rich tasting. BlindSangamon (8), Chatham, Illinois, USA does not count | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 20, 2005 Ugh. This was very close to a drain-pour. There was a heavy bitter-smoky bite and insufficient sweetness to balance it. Thin mouthfeel, chemical aftertaste.
