Very full roastyness in the nose with mocha and hops. Flavor has notes of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, nuts and a solid dosage of hops. Moderate sweetness. Pleasant bitter and somewhat burnt aftertaste. Medium body with creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Lacing hangs on the glass in thin sheets, decent head retention. Very nice porter. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 22, 2005 From a bottle. Very thin head. It says that it’s nearly black in porter but when held to the light it was almost red. The beer has an odd aroma that I’m not accustomed to in Porters. It actually sort of reminded me of a Dunkel in smell. This beer has a very thin taste and it almost had a soapy tasting finish with a little bit of hops. I’m not a big fan of this one. awaller05 (301), Sharon, Wisconsin, USA

First taste was sweet and chocalaty. The aftertaste is bitter metallic tasting and makes me hesitate to try more of this one. brewshthereen (316), Oregon, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 13, 2005 Nut brown ale coloring, could be darker. Earthy, dark roasted, slightly fruity. Some smokiness in aroma. Dusty, roasted, bitter chocolate flavors. Some acidic/metallic bitterness at the finish. A tad thin. Not bad, but pretty average. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 9, 2005 Dark brown with a hint of red, tan head with lacing throughout. Nice aroma, first of dark chocolate with raspberry filling, plus roasted malt, caramel and tobacco. Flavor falls a little short, certainly a pleasant medium weight chocolately porter at first, but gives way to a mildly astringent cardboard and sticky (yet thinning) finish. A decent all around porter. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA

Good aroma and flavor of smoked malt and roasted malt. Light body, creamy and dry mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Dogbrick (2907), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 24, 2005 This beer is a dark brown color with a medium thick and foamy light tan head. Thin rings of lacing. The aroma is pretty good, roasted coffee and malt. Medium-bodied but watery at times. Roasted malt, coffee and chocolate flavors. The finish has a pretty steady bitter hops flavor and lingers well. Aside from the watery aspect this is a pretty good Porter.
