Commercial Description:
This is a traditional porter, made to warm the bones. Nearly black in color, Stovepipe Porter has a rich palate and a roasted, hoppy and slightly herbal aroma.

a fairly weak porter in my opinion. The roastiness one expects from good porters was there however it tasted a bit watered down. Out of the bottle it had a nice 1/2 inch creamy head and nice dark brown color. Decent beer but left me wanting a little.

Demi-porter. Somewhat thin, not sticky enough for me. Decent roastiness. Thanks to Dr. Crawford for the load of Wisconsin beers! And this Vermont one, I suppose.

[on tap at Sunset Grill and Tap] Clear dark brown covered by a nice, beige blanket that lasts and leaves beautiful lacing. Caramel, coffee, toasty aroma with a hint of floral hops. Smokey and toasted caramel flavour with some spicy bitterness in good balance with residual sweetness. Medium body with medium carbonation and a little astringent.

Bottle. Bottled on 12/21/04. Pours a deep mahogany with thin light-tan head. Aroma is of bittersweet chocolate, black coffee and some hops. Taste is fairly balanced with a roasty malty beginning and a bitter hoppy finish. Some cocoa is present in taste too. Smooth if not a little watery. Nothing too notable about this one.

Pour is a almost black. Can still see through it when held up to light. Aroma is roasted malts with some chocolate. Flavor is chocolate with a stong coffee aftertaste. Middle of the road porter. Nothing that will knock your socks off but worthy of a taste.

bottle. Small off white head with a black body. Smells and flavors of mocha and smoke. Fairy bitter. Slightly more bitter than I would have liked it. Reminded me of an IPA taste. Good beer overall

Thanks to ChazyRPH for this beer.

Pours black with a small off-white head. Aroma is some malt and a touch of smoke, not too suprising. Taste has very little maltiness for a porter, and is dominated primarily by hops. This gives the beer more of a "pale ale" flavor than a porter. Average body.
