| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 29, 2004 Very dark amber color, clear, with a thin off-white head. Sweet malty roasted aroma. Flavor is dominated by the malts, with a slightly sweet chocolatey taste on top of the coffee. Hops are there as well with a little citrus added to the bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Maybe not too much going on but it’s still a fairly good beer. lizzy (44), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 28, 2004 Great smokey coffee aroma, very roasty and pleasant. Pours a very dark red, almost black with a small tan head. Taste starts sweet and malty but very quickly fades to a powerfull bitterness with a mineral aftertaste thats undesirable. A very watery mouthfeel. I wish this were a bit more balanced as the brew could really shine without the minerally bitter finish. Grandpa (325), Verona, New York, USA
