Blackish color with a red edge in the glass and a thin head. Very coffeeish aroma and taste. Obvious hops presence. Maybe a dash of smoke. Quite tasty.

Pours dark brown/ruby with medium, creamy off-white head. Aroma of malt, chocoff, fruit, smoke....very nice aroma. Tastes roasty/malty, with big chocoff, dark fruit, and a rauchy, somewhat dry finish. Medium palate. Not extremely complex, but very well balanced and smooth.

Poured a dark chestnut color with a medium sized tan head and left nice lacing on the glass. Roasted coffee, chocolate, and lightly hopped aroma. Very strong coffee flavor, minimal hop character, though a watery palate.

Aroma of fruity, herbal hops, caramel, a faint roastiness, and, as it warms up, coffee. Clear dark brown color, decent light tan head. Strong roasty coffee character in the flavor, moderate hop flavor. Medium body. Pretty good American porter, just coffee and hops, nothing fancy.

Bottled 12/30/2003. Opaque dark brown, short-lived off-white head. Smokey, bacony aroma with sweet marshmallow cream notes. The flavor has similar characteristics, starts with powdery semi-sweet chocolate rounded out by that oily-sweetness you can find in good coffee. Finishes with a roasty bitterness. All in all, a well-done porter.
