Nice roasty smell, just enough bitterness in the flavor, and good finish. Not the best I’ve had, but quite good. Lubiere (4551), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 17, 2004 Dark brown with copper hue. Small moka head. Roasted malts and hops come out well. Choclates notes with pleasant west coast hops comming out, nutty , and I agree with with the precedent rater, more like a brown ale in taste. Very pleasant and good body. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 13, 2004 This brew bottled on Dec 30 of 2003 from batch number 1480 poured a large sized head of frothy fine to large sized light brown colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a good sticky lacing. The body was softly carbonated semi-transparent and dark brown colored. It had a nice caramel malt brown beer aroma. The mouth feel was tingly yet smooth from start to finish. There was a lingering brown malt flavor to its finish. The initial flavors contained notes of caramel and brown malts but was on this thin side for a porter. It was more like a brown beer that a porter. hotstuff (3176), Indiana, USA

Poured a small sized tan head that was creamy and contained fine-medium sized bubbles. This beer was softly carbonated with a dark brown hue. The aroma consisted of malt, some chocolate, and roasty. The flavor was coffee, sweet and a little acidic. The mouthfeel was smooth and the lacing was fair. esjoh (7), USA does not count | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 7, 2004 Pours dark with a minimal brown head. Roasted aroma with a hint of hops. Palate is rather light for this type of beer. Taste is also roasted. Stovepipe is the perfect name for this beer. It’s a good one, but I like some other porters better. HopsOrDie (687), New Lenox, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2004 Dark brown pour. Aromoa is slightly roasted. The palate was disappointly thin. Flavor profile has hints of chocolate followed by a hop balanced but dominating roasted character. I got this from a "American Micro Brews" 10-pack. VTHopHead (928), Barre, Vermont, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 25, 2004 Opaque black/brown color. Slight malt aroma. "Watery" body and not robustness that you would expect from this type of beer. Drinkable, but not one I would choose if I had alternatives. Shadrach (176), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 19, 2004 On tap poured an orange brown with a faint aroma of coffee and caramel. On tasting, it started with some hoppinesss then came in with minimal coffee and caramel which faded into a moderate hoppinesss at the end. Overall it seemed weaker and more watery than a traditional porter with minimal body. I might have to try this again in bottle and see.
