Commercial Description:
This is a traditional porter, made to warm the bones. Nearly black in color, Stovepipe Porter has a rich palate and a roasted, hoppy and slightly herbal aroma.

Bottled - bought at Happy Deli NYC. Aroma is of cooking chocolate. Almost black colour with little head. The taste is of bitter powdery chocolate and blackberries. A tad raw and unclean but interesting nonetheless.

On cask at Monty's Crown. Poured adark ruby red colour with a thick tan head. This was a great example of an American porter. It has a wnderfully smoky taste with hints of coffee and subtle hints of chocolate. One of the top ten porters in my book. I think having it on cask made it better than I could have imagined it being.

Batch #1499, bottled 2/19/2004. Ahh, now I remember why I got some Otter Creek this time. Malty, chocolatey, yet fruity aroma. Almost black but garnet-colored with a light directly behind it. Thin tan head but a rich body. Serious chocolate flavor with lots of coffee. Good bitterness at the end. Nice brew from Otter Creek.

Appears dark brown in color, but deep red when held in direct light. Disappointing small light brown head. Smells smoky and tastes like burnt mocha, but in a good way. A bit more body would work wonders. Overall, a good porter, but one that I probably wouldn't buy again.

Bottled. Dark brown with a medium bone head. Toasted/roasted malt aroma. Strong dark chocolate flavour with the bitterness to boot. Nice well rounded bitter finish.

Pours a robust dark brown with a thin tan head. Dry mildly roasted and burnt aroma. Starts sweet and roasty with good body, dark chocolate, and nice balance. Finishes semi-dry and crisp. A nice porter.

Dark red mahogany with a good tan head. Mostly coffee nose. Start is sweet with some smokieness. Dry bitter balanced finish.
