Bottle from Brattleboro Food Co-Op. Dark brown body with large, tan head. Nose of caramel and hops. Taste quite weak with chocolate and malts towards the end. Watery with oily finish. Okay.

Began with a very pleasing aroma of coffee and a deep, dark appearance. Unfortunately, the flavor and palate do not live up to its’ first impressions.

Pours brown with red highlights and a small tan head. Nose of pleasant coffee, chocolate milk, breadcrust, nuts, oven char. Tastes of dark chocolate, roasted almonds, peanuts, toast, and coffee with mild astringency. Finishes nutty, lightly burned, coffee, with a mild bittrerness. Light to medium bodied with highcarbonation and a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Decent beer.

The smell is very chocoate, dessert, roasty, malts, and hot chocolate mix. The color is brown and it has an ok beige head. The taste is a bitter roastiness, chocolate, and not great.

Tap @ Bidwell Tavern, Coventry, CT. Thick dark dark brown body with tan head. Nice milk chocolatey, malty hop mix of flavors. A tad muddy.

[Bottle] Pours dark reddish-brown with a tiny light brown head. Aroma is deeply roasted malt, coffee, and quite a bit of sweetness. Cocoa, flan, and notes of maple syrup are also present. The taste is a little harsh on the swallow, with a lot of ashy bitterness that walks a fine line between enjoyable and overpowering, before mostly yielding to vanilla, fudge and a little caramel. Really not bad at all, despite the sometimes abrasive char. Just a touch too thin, but has a good length finish. A very solid porter that really impressed me. If the char taste was toned down just a little, it would be outstanding.

Thin head which disappeared pretty darn quickly. Sweet malty aroma with lots of cocoa, light coffee, molasses and some nice roasted grains. Aroma makes me think this is going to be a pretty good brew which is contrary to my beliefs about Otter Creek. Color is a very dark brown. Mild flavor with some bitter coffee, chocolate and sweet malts. Kind of thin and watery. Dominated by weak coffee flavors. Finishes roasty and dry with a bit of carbon in the aftertaste. An ok brew.
