Commercial Description:
A dark ruby beer with a well-balanced, malty flavour and a bittersweet chocolate edge. Fuggles hops deliver a bitterness, making the beer "dangerously drinkable".

Cask-conditioned at the Rising Sun, Frampton Cotterell, S Gloucs 3/5/08. This was called "St George’s Ale" but, according to the brewery’s website, all its seasonal ales are rebadges of the same base beer. Deep reddish-brown in colour with next to no head and an aroma of toffee and red fruit. The flavour was sweet too, with plenty of malt and some earthy hops in the finish. Good.

Cask Conditioned & straight from the barrel (gravity) at The Dolphin (beer fest) in Derby on 23/02/04. Mid / dark brown colour. An easy drinking and dry-ish beer. Nice balance of malty & hops...

Cask conditioned at Ye Olde Dolphin Inne, Derby (Heavyweight Beer Festival, February 2005). Gravity dispense. Brown to ruby colour, some natural carbonation, no head. Malty aroma and flavour like expected from a "Scottish" style ale, but this one also has a tolerable hoppy bitterness. Hints of dark bitter chocolate. Not a bad try from the Otter Brewery.
