| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 21, 2008 Bomber bottle and served in my GI IPA tulip: A brilliant ruby and copper hue topped by a fading but lasting frothy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of grapefruit, clove and resiny hop vapours along with some caramel and bready malts. The taste starts with acidic fruit overtones of grapefruit and orange zest before heading off towards a mostly balanced malt base. There is a good amount of hop spice and herbs on the finish along with a dash of medicinal flavor. The mouth feel is sticky and medium to full-bodied with a dry astringent finish. A solid example of the style but hardly an enamel scrapper. riversideAK (2731), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 21, 2008 Bottle from hopdog. Pours a hazy orange copper color with a nice big bubbly head. Aroma of bitter grapefruit and herbal hops balanced by nice toasty malt. Nice and hoppy, but not over the top bitterness. Grapefruit, pine, and herb (weed) with some toasty malt sweetness. A bit of vanilla and fruit comes through as well. Somewhat earthy lingering bitterness. Drinks well. A nice IIPA. 1FastSTi (2560), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 15, 2008 Thanks Jason. The beer pours to a lightly hazy reddish amber body with a medium creamy light tan head. The aroma is super vibrant with lots of catty grapefruit and pine. Dave’s wet alfalfa aroma is spot on. The flavor is sweet hoppy goodness with grapefruit and bitter pine. Earthen caramel body. Bitter and medium bodied. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 15, 2008 Bottle shared by Jason. Great aroma on this one - dry grapefruit rind and wet alfalfa. The flavor is similar with dry grapefruit and hay over a dry caramelly base. A classic, well-built DIPA. notalush (2668), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 8, 2008 Thanks to beastiefan2k for sharing - dark red, cloudy beer - sticky sweet, resinous hop, and light fruity ester aroma - the hops are earthy and potent, but the malt sweetness overwhelms them rapidly - some cherry, strawberry, and sticky caramel - the hops never get a chance to shine - too sweet. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 27, 2007 Bomber. Clear orange with a medium head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit and sugary candy. Very sweet sugar candy taste which combines with the grapefruit hops to come off like a beer-tinged pixy-stick. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium body. Dusty/tangy texture.
