The nose was citrus, mint, and caramel. The flavor was very floral with some citrus. Body was a bit thin causing the intense bitterness to come across as harsh. Alright. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 16, 2009 On draft at Otto’s. Transparent amber, creamy thin head. Fresh hop nose of orange, mango, a little mint. Flavor has more balance but is less invigorating: sweet orange dominates minor earthy hop, pine, and breadcrust, which continues into the short finish. A little overcarbonated, helping the orange sweetness dominate. At three weeks, this is still pretty nice and rather fresh, but in another three, I’m not so sure it will be. unclemike (833), Ft. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 4, 2009 (bottle thanks OSLO!) Pours out dark amber with an off-white head that sticks around. Aroma is at times quite good, but at other times rather boozy. There are scents of mango, light pine, sweet caramel, and a bit of honey as well, but these are occasionally drowned out by the alcohol. The flavor is fairly one-sided with some sweet caramel in the beginning that quickly transitions to a full taste of bitter grapefruit peel and a bit of juniper in the finish. The finish is so bitter that it in fact dries the mouth. Mouthfeel was medium and carbonation was smooth. A good DIPA, although not as complex as some others. OSLO (829), Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 4, 2009 [Bomber bottle] Pours deep golden with a fairly small, beige head. Aroma is pretty good, but falls a little short. Sweet, with floral, caramel, marshmallow--after swirling there is some malt, mango, alcohol, lemon zest and honey. Large dose of grapefruit bitterness, strong malt backbone. A little hot. Good mouthfeel, long, very dry finish. Overall, an enjoyable IIPA that would be nice to try on tap. jah noth (1020), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 21, 2009 Harrisburg Brewers Fest - Hazy amber with a nice head. Yeasty aroma with lots of citrus. Hop dominated flavor with very little apparent alcohol, except in the swallow. Medium bodied, pretty good! JCB (1789), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2009 Bomber from Capone’s. Hazy orange pour, with a soft, fluffy head and lots of sticky retention. Promises to be a nice one. Big floral nose with lots of sharp hops and some sweet malts. The body is thick and creamy, very nice. The taste is just a tad hot, with a bit of acidity and some woody notes in with the face-wrecking hops. Finish is sweet and intense. Not quite balanced enough, but pretty good. Beerapprentice (130), Hopatcong, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 22, 2009 Citrus, hops, and grapefruit aroma. Taste is the same as the aroma. Has a tangy and bitter taste. Has an orange amber colour. Decent IPA but I’ve had better.
