TrevorFloyd (309), Connecticut, USA Mar 21, 2006 Delicious. Deep brown color, medium to full body, and that great bock taste: some chocolate, maybe some molasses, but so smooth. One of my favorites at Ottos. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Nov 13, 2005 I think I drank this under a different name, so Ill move the rating when I can remember what it was called. Pours a hazy deep amber/light brown with an ok head but fades. Aroma has lots of deep munich, light roasted and chocolate matls. Gready full flavor, loaded with caramel malts, dark munich, melanoiden, and some chocolate. Lots of breadiness, nuts, and caramel. So smooth. Reminded me a lot of Victory St. Victorious. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA May 23, 2005 Pours deep copper with ruby menisci. Aroma of malt, berryish fruit, some hops. Tastes caramel malty, with fruit, some cabernet, and berries in the finish. egajdzis (3598), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 13, 2004 Poured a reddish amber color with a small, off white head and very light lacing on the glass. Aroma was sweet and malty, dried fruits, roast and light alcohol. Roasty malt taste, nutty, lightly sweet and mild alcohol burn. Pabobcat (15), Pennsylvania, USA Mar 9, 2003 Redish brown, not much hard strong malt taste, roasty, but watery, not much to it.
Not one of their best. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 29, 2002 Subtle aroma, malty and low hops - not a big nose. Red-brown to brown, slightly hazy. Off-white lacing head. Low medium carb and heavy watery almost viscous body. Sweet maltiness, nutty, a bit of smoke/chocolate. Ends in a burst of bitterness with after of nutty bitters, like walnuts. Has a little complexity to it, but not melded well. The flatness of palate mixed with peppery bitterness at end is a little odd.
