Handbottle via acrdz. Sweet and fusely nose, yes, of corn! Vanilla flavors but astringent and a bit briny too. Thin and alcoholic (cask beer problem, maybe), but still quite tasty.

On cask at brewpub. Poured a cloudy copper in color with a small dense head that left little lacing on the glass. Aroma is generally sweet with malts, citrus, and toffee. Light alcohol presence in the nose. Tastes of sweet malts, brown sugar, orange citrus, toffee, caramel, with a medium hop finish. Also in the finish there was some warming. Pretty nice.

From growler. Pours hazy copper color void of any head. Aroma is sweet malts, alcohol, orange. Flavor is brown sugar, caramel, alcohol, orange, vanilla. Palate is full to medium bodied, slightly watery for a BW, mild carbonation, finished sweet. Somewhat lacking, I realize this is bottled from a cask, so I didn’t expect much in the way of carbonation and mouthfeel, however I didn’t think the flavor would be distracted. I was not terribly impressed by this offering, decent but far from great.

Nip hand bottle. Fairly sweet and boozy initially on the nose. Candied orange peel. Thick, decadent melted toffee. Brown sugar. Spicy hops. A slight musty and wet wood component that seems a bit out of place amongst the rich and chewy sweetness. Pours a still, thick copper gold. Rather nice actually. Quite boozy on the tongue. Slightly metallic. Spicy and vibrant hops that seem a bit out of place here. Alcohol soaked orange peel. Toffee and caramel, but not nearly as sweet and as decadent as the nose would lead me to believe. Chewy and viscous on the tongue. Finishes with a pretty big blast of alcohol hotness. Decent but slightly underwhelming. Thanks Eben!

Faint aroma, slightly alcoholic. Starts off really nice, sweeter and maltier, like a decent english barleywine. Has a sharp alcohol taste in the middle, mixed with hops. Lots of them. Some char is in there and it has a lingering flavour that ends rather abruptly. I like it, I think...It has some great flavour and is a really nice barleywine. I’ve got to give it a hit because of that twang in the middle. It’s quite enjoyable otherwise.
